Re: Two PAG Oil Questions

Black light arrived yesterday. I played with it a little before dark and discovered that I have a small water pump leak. Turns out that the coolant glows too. I wasn't sure what I'd find but...

Re: Two PAG Oil Questions

Re: Two PAG Oil Questions

Thanks guy. Now at least I know why there seems to be different answers regarding the correct oil.

Thanks for the thoughts on vacuum and oil loss. Maybe I'm over thinking it but enquiring minds...

Two PAG Oil Questions

2003 VUE 3.0

We recently moved to AZ so naturally the A/C gave out on our 165k mile VUE. I was travelling for business so my wife took it to the dealer, who wanted $1200 to replace the...

Re: Timing marks off now. Timing belt change.

Which motor is this? To answer one of your questions, having the cam sprocket off by 180 degrees would be OK as long as all cam sprockets are aligned equally. Remember that the cam shaft(s) rotate...

Re: 3 questions on my 2003 VUE AWD

Here's a pic of the factory RTV sealant in the sharp corners. There isn't quite as much as the picture indicates. much of this was on the outside of the cylinder head.

Re: 3 questions on my 2003 VUE AWD

Here are some of the pics to illustrate the above:

First, the T-handle Torx tool that I used continually. It's a Craftsman and while not as good quality as those of old, it was more than up to...

Re: 3 questions on my 2003 VUE AWD

I finished the job two weeks ago. Took about two days with many mental health breaks. As Chazberry and others have said in other posts, it isn't as technically demanding as timing belt replacement,...

Re: 3 questions on my 2003 VUE AWD

This is what I did as part of the other work. Seems to have solved the problem again. At least, temporarily. The fluid didn't smell at all burned, but it was opaque so there is certainly come...

3 questions on my 2003 VUE AWD

Three items on my VUE though I imagine the answers will be longer than the questions:

1) I need to replace the valve cover gaskets (stinks of oil) so while I'm in there, I should probably just...
