Re: EGR binds after cleaning (interference fit)

Szumi: You're on the right track with the Torx driver. Soak the chamber with STP throttle body cleaner and continue to rotate the pintle, driving it in and out in all possible circular positions, and...

Re: Good article about Dex-Cool

I'm puzzled. The only time I've ever seen 250 degree block temperatures were in Cat 6.25" bore industrial engines (D379, D398, D399), and this was to recover process steam. These high block...

Re: Wheel Bearing I think

The last wheel bearing I replaced on my '95 SW1 involved digging out the old snap ring that had welded itself into the groove, and pressing the old bearing one out of the knuckle hub with a 55 ton...

Re: Nashua NH??

Massachusetts North Shore - about 35 minutes. How's the Saturn dealer on 101A doing? Also, Sunnyside Acura (one of two Acura dealers in New Hampshire) is one of the best stores in the country.

Re: Astra engine uses a belt for cam drive

I was snooping through a GM service publication the other day and saw a paragraph relating to Astra maintenance. Included was reference to timing belt AND tensioner change interval at 100,000 miles....

Re: Guess who made the consumer reports cover 2008 buying guide?

Since Saturn and Cadillac are the two brightest stars in the GM stable these days, CR would be ill advised to ignore either one.

Re: Anything wrong with no cat?

Sorry, guy, but I think you're misinformed. Has Ford created a separate assembly line for all Mustangs headed for Ohio? And as far as the clean gasoline thing goes, could I interest you in the buying...

Re: 100,000 Mile Club

The old girl's been good to me, and I to her. Despite twelve years of New England winters and healthy birds, the paint clearcoat looks as good as new. As an ex wrench, I've done all my own...

Re: 100,000 Mile Club

My '95 SW1 just hit 426,000 miles. Front end components, with the exception of axle bearings and left outer tie rod end, are original. Almost all major engine components, including clutch and...

Re: Air Filter Intake Air Box

This should be considered a sound attenuation device only, and not an air inlet. Air intake horn is opposite the silencer and is protected by the fender cross brace. Removing the silencer without...

Re: Windshield wiper

Re: Windshield wiper

Chances are that the control logic in the motor that takes care of high and low speeds with respect to control position, as well as delay functions, is gone and will requre motor replacement. Get one...

Re: Diagnostic tool question

I've had an Actron OBD II reader, purchased from Auto Zone, for about six years, and the performance and quality have been A-1. Their scanners appear to be first rate, as well, and are reasonably...

Re: Wiper Blades

Hint: On higher mileage cars, windshield stone and sand pitting can make the life of replacement wiper inserts very short. If you take a razor blade scraper with a fresh blade and run it over the...

Re: Update on Radio Problem

I'm not sure the Delco badge exists in today's radios. GM's Delco Radio division was out of Kokomo, Indiana and you are correct about the quality - there was none better. The other Delco division...

Re: Fact or Fiction?: Premium Gasoline Delivers Premium Benefits to Your Car

There was a federal mandate some years ago that all domestic cars had to be able to run on 87 octane, regardless. The compression ratio on my 2005 Acura TSX calls for 91 octane, but the car will run...

Re: Moving On

Nice ride, and it seems clean and in good shape. I thought the LS had the tan top and interior along with 16" wheels and Bose audio. Or is that the MX5? Just curious. Wonderful car, at any rate....

Re: Whatever happened to... Bob Lutz

It's been fiberglass since 1953, and very similar to the resin / fiber mat layup that is used in boatbuilding.

Re: Who's in the 200,000 MILE club??!!

My '95 SW1 just hit the 413,000 mark. Major components, including the clutch, A/C, starter, alternator, timing chain, struts, and tranny, are all original. It's been a nice car.

Re: Tranny Replacement

Seeing that this is a fairly early tranny, get hold of a service bulletin index and see if any modifications apply to it. It'd be a lot less expensive to do them prior to installation. Replacing the...
