Re: Antifreeze is leaking!!! Help

We fill the system to the top. With air entering down in the system the leak will show up pretty quickly. I found a split top tank on an Explorer the other day after filling the system to the top....

Re: Antifreeze is leaking!!! Help

We have a short hose on one side of the T. We disconnect one of the small hoses at the pressure tank and add the T and the small section of hose. You can use the factory clamp on the T if the hose is...

Re: Antifreeze is leaking!!! Help

We made an adaptor for our hand pump pressure tester at work. We removed the hose from the pump and installed a piece of 5/16” fuel hose and a T. We now connect to one of the small 5/16 or 3/8 hoses...

Re: The four L series in the driveway

My stick shift car is the only one of the 9 I have had that has any rust. The rust is very light on some of the suspension parts and brake parts. This car came from Spokane Wa. And probably ventured...

Re: The four L series in the driveway

The parts are pretty much for my use. I have been buying and restoring these cars.

The four L series in the driveway

I have four of these right now. The front one is my daily driver, the second is almost ready to sell. The third is the next project with a bad engine. The last one is just parts. Plus I have a shop...

Re: 2000 LS2 Rear End Problems

There are “rose” bushings where the control arms meet the knuckle. These allow movement on two planes as the suspension moves. There are many posts on replacing those.

My car clunked and “side...

Re: Rear suspension question

The knuckle and the three arms are the same with or without disc/abs or any combination. So yes they will work, get the car aligned when done. The toe is set at the front of the trailing arm. The...

Re: Sub Frame LS2, 2000

If the toe setting was correct before your alignment should be very close. They did not need to adjust my front camber after my strut replacement.

Re: Rattles And Clunking Noises.

Sway bar links cause noise industry wide, I just installed a Moog problem solver set on my Lincoln Navigator.

Re: Rattles And Clunking Noises.

I have found the sway bar links fail and cause clunks in the front ends.

Re: 03 Saturn L300 broken timing belt?

Hopefully one of the replacement parts failed and the shop can go back to the parts manufacturer for a parts and labor claim. Your car will have several bent valves.

Re: Sub Frame LS2, 2000

The strut will stop spinning with the car on the ground. Be careful, I stripped the top of one of my new KYB struts and had to rethread to a new size. The top nut and rubber piece only retains the...

Re: 2002 LW200 Gasoline Leak

At least the L series cars have plastic fuel lines. The Ions have steel lines and they rust through. Didn’t you cut a hole under the back seat and replace your pump a while back? I’d look there first...

Re: 03 Saturn L300 broken timing belt?

When I had my retail repair shop I assumed liability for damage caused by my mistakes. I also carried 1 million dollar liability insurance and never needed it! If the shop repaired your car properly...

Re: Popping Thru Speakers When Turn Signals On And Braking

I would remove the trim panel that surrounds the radio. Our cars have an extra ground wire on the passenger side of the radio to ground the case to the dash support. This wire may have become...

Re: 2000 LW2 3.0l Expansion Tank

It is part of the system to help get air out of the radiator. You must use it or your cooling system will not work correctly. They used that hose from the radiator to the tank because it is needed.

Re: 2000 LW2 3.0l Expansion Tank

See if the 2.2 tank has the nipple. It just may need to be opened so it can be used. The tanks are same otherwise.

Re: diagnostics code fast one? hate fast ones.

I always record the codes and clear as part of my diagnostic routine. I then investigate all possible causes of the codes and how they involve each other. Then I drive to recreate the code and run...

Re: diagnostics code fast one? hate fast ones.

I have a Snapon scanner that reads all up to about 2003 cars and light trucks. I can get data and codes with this tool. I used this when I had my own retail repair shop. I have worked for a large...

Re: 2002 L200 Sedan Diverter Valve Melted, Exhaust Issue?

No, it is usually valve seals or rings that cause oil consumption.

Re: diagnostics code fast one? hate fast ones.

My car threw that code a couple times when I first put it together. I just cleared and drove it. It has not returned in the last year. My car had sat for a year with a bad engine. There are...

Re: Sub Frame LS2, 2000

I mentioned before that you do not need to disconnect the main mounts or jack up the engine. The one under the fuse box or the one at the end of the engine. These will hold the engine and...

Re: 2002 L200 Sedan Diverter Valve Melted, Exhaust Issue?

Sounds like you have too much restriction in your exhaust system. Usually a plugged catalytic converter is the problem, converters are killed by engines that burn oil. You have to solve the reason or...

Re: front end torque specifications

Cage nuts are used to retain the sub frame to the body. They are nuts with a clip attached to keep them from spinning while tightening the bolts. On a rusty car the clips fail and the bolts are...
