Re: "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light on my 2002 SC2

The PCM requires a camshaft signal but Saturn/GM was too cheap to put an actual camshaft angle sensor in the car. They use signal sensing from plug wires 1 & 4 to create this angle sensor which...

Re: 92 SC headlights doors

Hope this helps, one's the connector to the y-cable to the headlight & motor, the other is for the control module. Should be the same up to '96, but I didn't check to verify.

Corvette's and...

Re: Saturn and Air Pollution

If you want actual numbers look up posts from people in California, that useless state keeps decreasing the allowable limit on various emission's things to the point where a 200k mile motor still...

Re: Found a JY 1998 SC2 "Red Hot" -- What parts should I pull?

The wheels are the standard '97'/'98 style with unique paint. Super easy to make yourself with tape, newspaper and a rattle can of black; probably not worth attempting to resell unless you can get a...

Re: "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light on my 2002 SC2

The coil packs don't care about torque other than too tight will probably crack them or snap the bolt off while too loose means either they'll fall out or the only grounding point through the bolts...

Re: Front bumper emblem

Should be able to just pop the clips off the top/front of the bumper and peel that back enough to get a 10mm on the nut and work it off from the top.

Similar with the fender mounted emblems, just...

They didn't change '91-'02 for any model.

Re: Am I screwed? (Sway bar bushing)

Cut out a neat access hole and weld it back in place when you're done.

This is why I don't recommend messing with the cradle unless it's rusted and requires replacement.

Re: Prothane Dogbone Bushings same for 00-02?

'91-'98ish the design encapsulated the bushing on the fat end into the metal bracket, starting around '99 they stopped being neanderthals about it and made the bushings replaceable like normal people...

Re: Does anyone know where this wire's supposed to go?

Low beam is dark blue, but it ought to be paired with an orange wire and there's no need for it to be that long.

My diagram shows the A/C compressor clutch as a different color than blue, but that...

Re: Stranded? Battery light?

I'd bet if you can get the battery fully charged and if the majority of your 120mi trip is highway it'll make it fine.

Re: high beam doesn't stay on

You won't see any on top as they aren't there. AllData shows 4 pretty ovbious ones on the bottom for '99, all the earlier ones I've worked on ('93-'97) had 2 buried/hidden ones.

Re: high beam doesn't stay on

'91-'02 the column cover comes off the same way despite various design changes over the same period.

Hardest part is creating a thin wall 5.5mm socket to fit into the darn hole. Sometimes a cheap...

Re: 2001 SC2 Overheating Issue 2 electric boogaloo

The cap probably doesn't have to be from an S-Series either...my buddies '97 F350 Powerstroke had a bad cap and all we had laying around were from 5.3L and 6.0L Silverado's :D
(boy, that pissed him...

Re: 2001 SC2 Overheating Issue 2 electric boogaloo

First thing I'd try is a new cap. Some years came with a 15psi cap, others 18psi...I'd use either but try to get the higher rating (more pressure = higher boiling point).

Assuming NGK BKR4ESA-11 (https://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9304) is the stock number then NGK BKR2ESA-11 (https://www.ngk.com/product.aspx?zpid=9321) is the next hotter.

Hasn't everyone popped them apart to clean the contacts? Pretty simple, but keep in mind the buttons are spring loaded so having 3-4 hands is useful.

Usually the contacts get dirty, spark & melt...

Re: Fuel Line Leak, 95SC2 -- need parts / repair advice

Most of that info isn't in the FSM.
