Re: 2002 SC2 Key Fob Programming

My local auto store also has a free thing where you can check your fob to see it is sending out a signal. (if it isn't, might just be a dead battery or the contacts need cleaning, then check again)...

Re: '97 SW1 A/C doesn't do anything

Re: That "old car smell"

That reminds me, the SC2 also had some gal's job application/resume, in the netting/storage pouch behind the seat.

Included her name, address, DOB, and social security number. Also were a...

Re: '99 SL1 - Poor acceleration, drop in mileage, rough shifting, and 12 codes!

Two separate (but related) issues :)

you have to address both, but separately, rather than one first as a fix to the other.

I didn't even notice that you mentioned idle not changing with the...

Re: creating a window in the timing cover for the chain

Kind of wondered what has been happening with your car.

Re: Extremely hesitant and no power

I bought a DENSO 234-1022 off eBay for around $22 shipped a few years ago.

Looks like current prices are around $28 shipped.

Re: That "old car smell"

Cut off the foot of old nylons, put it in, and tie the top?

I occasionally kick the idea of making a DIY cabin filter for the Saturn, using charcoal and some of that breather element stuff, but...

Re: how does a/c work

Thread title made me think of this representative diagram (color coded)

gas (the Freon) cools as it expands in the evaporator, and your...

Re: Scraping noise in 99 sl engine

Normally, when you put just a wrench on that and turn, the whole pulley moves (it's how you release tension on the belt to remove it)

If you held the pulley still and then turned the bolt . . ....

Re: Used engine swap

Took me a second to realize 7sed = used:)

I'm pretty sure you have to bring your fuel injectors and fuel rail from the 1996 motor to the 1998 motor.

There's a few sensors on the back of the...

Re: how does a/c work

No, there is a pressure switch so that if pressure is too low, it is disabled.

So if it is below pressure, you can't turn the AC on and damage anything. :)

By coincidence, just posted a link...

Re: 2002 SL won't pass smog with OBDII fail

Congratulations on your perseverance paying off! :)

That's great that the old girl as peppy again. I don't have any EGR codes but I may run some carb cleaner and a wire down there preemptively,...

Re: '99 SL1 - Poor acceleration, drop in mileage, rough shifting, and 12 codes!

I agree, clear the codes by pulling the PCM-B fuse and reinstalling, then see what comes back That would be impossible as your car does not have a camshaft position sensor :)

Re: What to use to clean shift tower with (shifter bushing issue)

Great to hear. Was the Delrin also from saturnbushingman or from one of the copycats?

My Delrin one has been there 9 years & 100k miles - if you got your Delrin from him, this would be the...

Re: how many miles do you have on your saturn?

Wow, that car looks amazing, esp considering the miles.

How often did you change the oil?

Hard to argue with success, :) but the PL20195 also fits and gives you a little more capacity. It's...

Re: Shock Absorbers

From what I've read, they tend to break. So if yours aren't broken, they are OK . . . for now :)

Then again, you are in an area where the state dumps tons of salt on the roads all winter, so you...

When I unbolted and pulled the seat completely out, all those fell out from between the seat and the...

Re: That "old car smell"

My SC2 had a strong cigarette smell

Probably due in some part to this (discovered after I vacuumed under the seats, but later removed the seats entirely)...

Re: '97 SW1 A/C doesn't do anything

YMMV, but both my Saturns developed slow leaks at the Schrader valves. Worth looking at if you don't see any glowing patches elsewhere

Replacement AC valves are available at the FLAPs for about...
