Re: Tightening LCA/Cradle bolt

I've only used wrench's. Sometimes doubling it up on the nut side for more leverage, though a pipe would be safer.

Re: Socket PCM

Megasquirt is pricy? lmao
Look into any other standalone engine management system, then come back.

Pretty sure all the PCM socketing info was gleened using a '92 PCM and extrapolated to include...

Re: Socket PCM

By socketing it you can replace the PROM with an ERPROM like proper modern cars have. 1st gen only, '91-'95, and probably '91-'92 is your best bet overall.
Makes it more like a Megasquirt than a...

Re: Need help finding interior parts

OH! Those pins!? :dizzy: I started collecting them after I lost a couple, saved them from nearly every parts car I had :D
Can only find these 2 at the moment, if you PM me your address by 1:30pm...

Re: SC2 headlight motor causing draw?

The headlight motors are the same '91-'96.

Try unplugging the motors, one at a time, then measure the current draw. Then unplug both and check draw again. This is to check that it's the motor's...

Re: Replacing 01 SC2 wheel hubs w/ABS

Fronts have everything for ABS 100% external/separate from the bearing & hub. Just have to be a bit careful when inserting/removing the axle from the bearing and when pressing the bearing into/out-of...

Re: Need help finding interior parts

Hopefully you've got a couple hours to hunt, Clips And Fasteners (http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Default.asp) is one of the best place's I've found to goto to find the fastener I need but it can...

Re: Saturn SL2 Sway Bar/Tension Strut

That's what happens over time to clamped connections (OldNuc has some fancy name for it I believe). 2nd or 3rd time people have posted pictures of that failure, maybe 4th I've read about. Easiest fix...

Re: Got all the bolts, hoses and brackets off (cylinder head)

They stick together really really good and with the added ~20lbs from the intake manifold being attached it makes it really really hard to separate, partly because the weight is offset to one side....

Re: Fuel Pump Quit

Only complication I had was getting both cars high enough in the air to clear the stupid tank straps. Getting the filler neck hose's off was nearly as challenging however as there's just no easy way...

Re: Fuel Pump Quit

Been a long time since I swapped tanks from a '93 to put in a '96 but I remember there being 2 quick-connects and a vacuum line, with the vacuum line just being pulled off; no clamps or retainers...

Re: Rusted exhaust bolt

High initial expense (was $50 at my local hardware store, $10 for a yellow "refill" or $5 for a blue "refill") but I've had it work better than PB blaster when it's safe and open enough to use...

Re: Clutch Kit Question

First time I sent parts back, RA refunded the price of the parts but I found they scammed me on s/h when I paid to send 'em back, was nearly $10 cheaper going back then when they sent me (same "first...

Re: 97 sl engine vs 96 sc1 engine

'94 was the transition year for the EGR valve, it kept the '91-'93 mounting flange but California Emission's added an adapter to fit the '95-'02 style EGR.

'95-'99 SOHC are similar enough to not...

Re: Now to the dogbones

I've seen pictures of broken $15 anchor brand dog bones, but they're now well over 10 years old (the pictures that is) and I ran them for 6 years with poly inserts plus SDA's poly top mount with no...

Re: 2000 Saturn SW2 Rear Sway Bar Link Replacement W/ PICS

It's awesome how Moog puts 2 different parts in the same box with the same part number. With and without zerk fittings should be different part numbers but they're not, learned that the hard way so...

Re: Anyone worried about foul gasoline?

I get a receipt every time I get gas. If you don't get a receipt you can't prove you got that tank of gas there. I use it to figure out that tanks MPG, then throw it out in the trash bag I've got in...

Re: How do I remove this hose?

Comes off fine with a bit of careful help from a screwdriver (flat tip - not phillips +). You can also try vice grips if there's room, just tight enough to grip the rubber and spin it; once it's...

After being burned twice by RockAuto (sending parts that don't fit), first time I wasn't convinced it couldn't be my fault but 2nd time was 100% on them, I don't trust them on anything anymore. Just...

Re: Wits end p0400

Try running the engine with no EGR bolted to it. If the RPM's don't immediately and pretty quickly climb (as fast as when you hit the throttle in N) to the neutral rev limiter then the passage's...

Re: Non-fouler success

Quite common with other, more performance oriented brands.

I used a vice to hold it and a 12v cordless drill.

Get a 90 non-fouler next time, rather than the straight kind. Might be trickier to...
