Dizzy Re: Dead Saturn SL2 Success Story

Can you believe it is six years later, and this car did this same stunt again?

However, I had completely forgotten about my experience before. I was in such a rush this time to have the car...

Question GA Emissions Inspection Failure - High NOx

I'm having trouble getting my 1995 Saturn SC1 to pass Georgia emissions. This car has 237,000 miles on it, although the engine has about 60,000 less miles.

I failed the initial test, so I replaced...

Happy Re: Sudden loss of power, rough accel, smooth idle.

Well, after a couple of days of driving, it seems to be back to "normal." It certainly was anemic that one morning, but seems to have recovered from whatever malady it had.

Fuel Filter, Fuel pump...

Dizzy Re: Sudden loss of power, rough accel, smooth idle.

OK, driving home from work wasn't nearly as traumatic as driving to work. Initially, there was no problem, then as the engine warmed up, there was a little roughness in 1st and 2nd when accelerating,...

Question Sudden loss of power, rough accel, smooth idle.

Yesterday, my 1995 Saturn SC1 was running just fine. Today, I barely made it to work.

On my way to work, the car seemed to be underperforming a bit. I thought maybe I was running out of gas, since...

Post Re: Blower Fan Failing

I took the blower out (which proved to be easier than I thought it was going to be), and I plugged it in and tested it, to see if I could observe the failure. What I found was apparently a poor...

Question Blower Fan Failing

I have a 1995 SC1 with 214,000 miles. It runs well, but recently I have had an issue with the blower fan for the heat, defroster, A/C.

When I turn the fan on initially, it blows fairly strong at...

Wrench Radiator Fan Motor Replacement Difficulties

My wife's 1999 SL2 overheated, and a little troubleshooting made it pretty obvious the problem was the radio cooling fan motor. When jumpered with 12 volts, it would not turn by itself. Give it a...

Thumbs Up Re: Vehicle and Steering Wobble

That was it!

New tires and she drives smooth as butter. No alignment issues.

Thanks!

Question Vehicle and Steering Wobble

OK, Driving a 1995 Saturn SC1 with 194,000 miles on it. In the last two hundred miles a front end problem has gradually become more pronounced.

Symptoms:
- At low speed (< 10 mph), the front end...

Wrench Re: Coolant Leak on Passenger Side - Water Pump?

Got it up on jacks and took the wheel and splash guards off. Got the pulley off the water pump and it was pretty obvious -- even not running, coolant is dripping out of the shaft.

I'll grab one...

Question Coolant Leak on Passenger Side - Water Pump?

I have a 1995 SC1 with over 180,000 miles on it. The engine has about 60,000 miles less (it was replaced before I bought it).

Recently, I had a low coolant light come on after driving 85+ miles...

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

For all the part replacements, I'd lay odds she's looking at a CPS failure.

No mention of mileage. I'd bet it's pretty much wrung out. Might be worth $900 if running.

Question Seat Cover Recommendations?

My Saturn SC1 now has 167,000 miles, and is still going strong. However, the fabric on the driver's seat back has worn through in the lower left corner -- right where your butt rubs as you get in and...

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

Not that overpriced. It has perhaps about 40,000 too many miles to be worth that much, but knock $1000 or so off, it's not too bad.

Used car prices became crazy-inflated after cash-for-clunkers. I...

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

I thought that firing the airbags totaled just about any car. Sounds more like parts to me.

That would have been a great price two years ago, when Cash-For-Clunkers pulled all the low-cost automobiles out of the market and the subsequent constraints on used-car supply raised prices to more...

Re: Dead Saturn SL2 Success Story

Dang. I have a set of these! They are at the wrong house, of course, but are much easier to use than the jack stands.

The only bad thing about them is you have to run the engine, and then when...

Re: Dead Saturn SL2 Success Story

I always do this. Every time. You never can be too careful.

What would happen if an earthquake started right as you were under the car?

Re: Dead Saturn SL2 Success Story

True enough! But, at this point, I was already under the car.

Being aware of it, I was careful with my tools and did not have a problem. If you are careful, you shouldn't have a problem either....

Thumbs Up Dead Saturn SL2 Success Story

Last week, my wife parked the White 1999 SL2 Automatic in our car port. The next day, when we went to start it, the engine turned over pretty easily, but nothing happened.

I wasn't able to do...

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

"27 mpg city / over 30 mpg highway"

I wonder what's wrong with it -- that's pretty horrible gas mileage for a Saturn S-Series.
