Re: Finding a decent Saturn is getting harder . It's seems

On the topic of Consumer Reports, or any other source, always look to methodology. They are as reliable as any source, but it is important to understand what hat means. so . . .

Re: Finding a decent Saturn is getting harder . It's seems

I dunno.

If I was broke down on the side of the road and saw a co-worker drive by without stopping to help, I'd be even more offended :)

Re: Squeaky Clutch when Over 80 Degrees

Great pictures! I hope the OP is still checking.

Same here, thanks to OldNuc, I have all sorts of cool stuff left over that I use for various projects, or stuff that I will buy for new projects....

Re: Keep my SL2 or get a SW2?

Thanks for the update on Shawn.

Weird about the VUE space vs SW space. :)

For the foreseeable future, will probably always have a minivan - tons of space and flexible passenger set up. fold...

Re: 95 Sl2 Saved

Heck, I thought the 'before' pictures were pretty nice, other than the seats, visors, and rust.

But the after pictures are amazing. Looks like it just rolled off the line.

Nice work!

Re: 2001 SC1 Some OBDII won't complete

That's a fair amount of profit for the 5 minutes spend replacing the $12 ECTS, and the half hour or less replacing a $14 thermostat...

Re: 2001 SC1 Some OBDII won't complete

I usually try to encourage people to try simple, inexpensive tests before buying parts, but I'm seriously cheap. :)

No, it's probably easier to see and reach, but I've changed the thermostat on...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Honestly, parts seems like the way to go.

Individually, lots of parts that a s-series owner might want for their car, but put them all together and you have nice parts on a rusty, old car :(

Re: 2001 SC1 Some OBDII won't complete

Cleaning up my computer of unneeded files and happened to come across this, posting it then deleting. Close up of the ECTS connector and where to squeeze for removal.

If you look at previous...

Re: 2002 sc2 leaking automatic transmission

I haven't been under the car in a long time, but make sure of where the leak actually is - it will drip down to a low spot. Some leaks have been simple overfills (auto trans fluid should be at the...

Re: Keep my SL2 or get a SW2?

I wouldn't entirely rule out a saturn for a filthy interior. I have a friend whose cars are always filthy but he gets them serviced on schedule Saturn seats are easily swappable, too.

I like...

Re: Raspberry Pi Android Auto Project

I see the same thing you do in your screen captures - a Saturn logo. I think that is what OP posted, for use as wallpapers for the tablet.

The Sero Pro 7 is an inexpensive Nexus 7 clone, if you...

Re: The MPG cost of running the AC

Yeah, I have an easy commute. Few stops.

Been taking the hwy lately due to construction, but even when I was doing side roads, there's a total of . . . let's see, 2 stop signs and 4 traffic...

Re: Finding a decent Saturn is getting harder . It's seems

I've only owned DOHC, also.

I've read that below around 2,500~2,800 rpm and the first 3 gears, no noticeable difference with the SOHC.

Fourth is a little taller in the SOHC cars, Fifth is a...

Re: '97 SW1 A/C doesn't do anything

I haven't checked in a while, but last time I looked, drier was around $20.

Oh heck, I'll go ahead and look . . . OK, Advance Auto shows list price $41.99. There is always a coupon around 20~40%...

Re: Raspberry Pi Android Auto Project

Very cool project. One of the big dangers to batteries in the car is when the car is parked in the hot sun - lot of car cams use capacitors for that reason.

Blocking the sun is a good way to...

Re: Keep my SL2 or get a SW2?

imgur is blocked at work for me, so I'll try and catch those later. But if it's badly rusted (subframe and rear door sills) a less rusty car is the way to go.

Chicago should have a ton of S...

Re: 2001 SC1 Some OBDII won't complete

^ ^ ^ agreed, check:
1) ECTS
2) ECTS connector
3) thermostat
That would normally bring you up to 3/8 if both the ECTS and t-stat were working properly, assuming non-winter temps (Midwest winter...
