Update: Since all this transpired, i had engine rebuilt, new replacement head from recommended ebay seller (great head rebuild). And I had to get another valve cover...last one got broken in rebuild...

Add leaking oil into #1/#3 spark plug wells due to Valve Cover Gasket/Warped Valve cover. Known to cause arcing and misfire.

I turn car off, radio turns off automatically...then... 5-30 minutes later, the radio turns on by itself.

I'm sure it's the ignition switch..no other symptoms...radio has been working well for...

Same exact issue here on 96 SL2... ROUGH idle, no codes that I can see.

When I run a timing light i notice that the timing mark hops around in sync with the rough idle. Things to check on my short...

Just pull the O2 sensor pre-cat and see if that fixes your issue.

Yup i got a true flat surface, by scrubbing against a true flat piece of concrete 8). I checked it with a straight edge every which way, and it's near perfect.

Seems she's still holding, not a...

Very statisfied with my home machining of the valve cover to take the warp out...rock solid.

Like previous poster said, dielectric grease is to prevent corrosion, but not cause shorts.

I had some significant corrosion and even some arcing on the coilpack ignition wire...

1st off thank to OldNuc, he got me the closest to getting this fixed.. and several others too many to note.

Now, the big issue with this part is that the composite cover...
