Re: ECU Temperature reading, S series?

The factory thermostat runs at 195F. Some of the after market ones will open at 185F though. 180 is probably a little low

Re: How often do you clean your throttle body?

Mine was pretty gummed up around 105k in 2017. Partly due to my air filter having a hole in it for who knows how long. It's still pretty much as clean now as it was then 14K miles later

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Finally found a used air dam to replace the missing one. No idea how long it’s been gone for. It hasn’t been there since I’ve had the car. I sanded down the rough spots and frayed edges and gave it...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I may try junkyard again. I did for motor #3 but it died after about a year, so you are technically right about it not being worse, but still not the most ideal.

There are a few Saturns in the...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I did mention it, and he did call the other store but only to make sure they actually had it in stock for when I got there. He just said to order it online so I get the 20% off discount to “cover”...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Today I put in the fifth Wiper motor in the last 3 years. :dizzy:

All of a sudden yesterday, the washer fluid stopped working and the wipers would move really slowly. After a few slow wipes, it...

Re: I went to check on a issue with my parking brake but found something way worse..

How are the rear door sills? They can rust out pretty bad too. Some people don't notice until it's too late due to never using the back seats

Re: Broken Stud Top Motor Mount to Frame/Bracket

If the stud can be threaded out like the 3 on the timing cover, they yes it would be an easy fix. I'm pretty sure that the studs are part of the bracket though and can't be removed separately. I may...

Re: My experience with a R12A recharge kit.....

While what you said about R12 is true, OP is referring to R12a. Its different from R12 and from my searching, is meant to be used to retrofit old R12 systems or in place of an R134a system. Mixing...

Re: Broken Stud Top Motor Mount to Frame/Bracket

I have a feeling your only option if to grab another mount bracket from the junkyard. Number 4 in the diagram. Someone else may have a better idea though...

Re: My experience with a R12A recharge kit.....

You put R12a in a system that originally came with R134a? Not saying what you did was wrong, just didn't know it could be safely done.

My condenser is starting to fall apart so I may switch over...

Re: I went to check on a issue with my parking brake but found something way worse..

That looks like a pretty good repair to me. Especially for your first time welding (keep in mind I have no welding experience soI have no idea what a "good" weld looks like.)

I'd sand does and...

Re: Looking for a central console armrest

It works as long as you also swap the two kick panels below the radio.
Not only do you get a more useful middle cupholder, it Makes the front one slightly more usable as well. It may still block the...

Re: Looking for a central console armrest

I find it kind of interesting that that SC now has a little 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen making up the interior.

I wish Saturn made bigger changes generation to generation like Honda or Toyota would...

Re: Radiator foam replacement

The condenser was a little tricky to get mounted. The two tabs at the top of the radiator had to be bent out a little for them to slot in. The drivers side tab on the condenser also had to be shaved...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Got a new radiator in today. There have been a few batches of fully aluminum radiators on Ebay now and I bought one from most recent one. There isn't actually anything wrong with my current one,...

Re: Radiator foam replacement

I finally got the new radiator in today. The old foam probably wasn't doing much anymore. I actually took it out a few weeks ago and haven't really noticed a difference since. 2-1/4 X 2-1/4 foam...

Re: What the !%&*@ is going on here?

Doug has actually said a lot of good things about the S-Series on his Auto Trader column. He does seem to like the car, he just doesn't seem aware of how reliable they are.

Plus he is right, Not...

Re: dead cigarette lighter socket

I've had my Cigarette lighter go out before and it turned out to be just the fuse. I don't have power locks though so It doesn't usually get w whole lot of current through it. Not sure how it blew

I saw that one as well. Second gen armrests are somewhat rare on ebay, especially one with a non broken latch. It is missing the key and coin holder however. I've seen armrests sell for less than...

They exist in black in tan for all 3 generations. Tan being more rare than black though. First gen also had blue armrests
