Checkered Flag Re: Goodbye Saturn: Thanks for the Ride (1985-2010)

Well as one of the members here from Spring Hill, I want to say thanks to Charlie and all the rest of you.....Without all of you Saturn would not have made it as far as it did. Even when GM was...

Re: Saturn/Penske deal a farce from the start....Penske had no real plans to buy Satu

It was not a farce...

In fact Roger Penske had already hired all the Management Personal that were working in the Parts Warehouse in Spring Hill a month ago and was working with GM on a package...

Re: dealership parts question

I can tell you as production came to a close on the S-series and the L-series that we made lots of panels to put into storage in the Parts Warehouse. I don't remember the time, but there is a...

Re: Spring Hill closing? Feb. 2006 Motor Trend

Not really...the plant will still be running. We will continue to build GM products. It is just that instead of the nearly 10,000 we employed in 1993. We will only have about 4500 workers here...

Re: Spring Hill closing? Feb. 2006 Motor Trend

With all the accronyms down here that doesn't suprise me. We have two to three pages of accronyms that are used in Spring Hill. I have no idea on what a lot of them are.

Most of the time when...

Re: Spring Hill closing? Feb. 2006 Motor Trend

Folks...as Red has said...

Don't worry about us down here in Spring Hill. Yes the Ion line will be shutting down. But when it does the contractors will come streaming into the plant and start...

Re: GM (Saturn) has just blown us away!

First...I have to agree. I really like the way the '06 Vue looks. I think they did a really good job with the improvements.

Second...Corvette buyers, buy out the production run every year..While...

Re: Just a Question

The reason isn't the age of the factories. The problem is the many, many layers of management that must approve every project. At one time GM had nearly 50 layers of management that has to buy off...

Re: Releases

Out of curiosity....how does it feel when the engine cuts out when you come to a stop? Just wondering if it feels strange or do you even notice anything different from the norm.

Re: Releases

It will be out before that...we started the build this week. Very slow, and not many at present. That will ramp up over time. Not sure when they will be released for shipment though. Not sure...

Re: Good News For Spring Hill

Well 95% isn't really 95%...

First to get to that...you subtract all State and Federal taxes from your base pay. Then you subtract $30 dollars for misc expenditures (I have no idea why...it just...

Re: Good News For Spring Hill

Each plant that closes is its own island as such. A UAW employee can not displace another UAW employee at a different plant. Though if an opening comes up in another plant. Those UAW employees who...

Re: Vote!- Will Polymer body panels be gone by 2008?

You can not continue to operate a manufacturing plant at 1/2 capacity. This is what we are doing. People just are not buying polymer paneled cars. We have had reduced sales every year since I...

Re: Stupid poll - gas door?

I like it at the license plate. This way no matter which pump is open I can use it. I really hate having to wait when there are other pumps open, but they nearly take an act of God to manuver into...

If you do....try to get them from the SUV 230/240 line or the Final area. All depending on what area you work at. At least from those areas all the panels are on the SUV so you can see the whole...

I don't have any pics...but I too saw one tonight while I was delivering parts. The new orange VUE is something else. I wanted to drive it right off the line.

Re: GM ending empl. disc. for all program Aug 1

I'm glad the program worked....though I am still wondering how many pull-ahead sales were in that 3 month program? I really don't want to go back to sitting in the plant for a week or so a month...

Re: Dilemma: Purchase V6 AWD 05 now or wait for 06?

Should be very soon. We are building over 70% V6's on the VUE line right now and have been for about 2 weeks now. My best guess is that you should start seeing them in a week or two. Depending on...
