Re: replace spark plut wires?

You made the right decision not to replace your wires. I am doing a bit of a durability test on my wires. I still have my original wires on my 01 SC2 at 378,000 miles. It runs just fine. I also...

Re: how many miles do you have on your saturn?

270,000 miles on my 01 SC2 5-speed. Replaced the engine at 260,000 miles and again at 270,000 miles. The Saturn reman engine had compression below spec with only 10,000 miles on it. It was covered...

Re: 2001 SC2 Low Cyl. Comp. Opinions Needed

I put in about a tablespoon of oil, cranked it with a towel over the hole to blow out any extra oil and then measured the compression.

Thanks to everyone that has replied so far.

westwind999 - I will check out AutoRx but I think the engine might be beyond that. Thanks for the idea.

2001 SC2 Low Cyl. Comp. Opinions Needed

At 259,368 miles my SC2 needs some major engine work. Cyl. #3 is down to 66 psi compression. The rings are bad. All other cyls are still good.

Do I replace the engine with a new Saturn engine,...

Re: Who's in the 200,000 MILE club??!!

I have 236,000 miles on my 01 SC2. Repairs - LF wheel bearing at 60,000 (RF is still original), intake manifold gasket, new lifters under warranty, couple EGR valves, idler pulley, replaced the...

Re: How Many Miles on your S-Series

Just turned 223,000 miles on my 01 SC2 manual. Still have the original clutch, suspension, wires, trans, engine, and rear brakes which might last forever. I would have about 20,000 more miles but...

Re: Who has a CB in their VUE?

I have a CB in my SC2. It saves me so much time by avoiding traffic jams. It is also the best radar detector around. The route I drive is full of big trucks so I almost always know where the boys...

Re: 5w-20

The point most people overlook here is that engines that require 5w-20 oil are ENGINEERED for 5w-20 oil. If a new engine requires 0w-40 oil then it was designed for that. Be careful about second...

Re: Is this malarky?

If I get gas before the low fuel light comes on I feel like I am wasting my time. I drive too many miles not to use the full load of fuel before filling up. My 01 SC2 has 2+ gallons of fuel in the...

Re: heavey vibrations

I would have to disagree on getting an alignment just to get one. I have no unusual tire wear and the car does not pull to the side. Why would I want someone to change any alignmnet setting on the...

Re: heavey vibrations

Alignment every 10,000 miles??

I have 187,000 miles on my 01 SC2 and have never had an alignment. My tire wear could not be better. Even on Michigan roads my car has not had a problem. If I...

Re: If you were to replace your S-series....

If I had to replace my 01 SC2 I would probably buy another 01 or 02 SC2. A good used 01-02 SC2 is a good deal considering the miles you can put on it. I have 187,000 miles on my car now and it runs...

Re: Anyone with 2000-2001 Twincam

My 01 SC2 started using oil about 60,000 miles. The oil has been changed every 4-5000 miles, which for a while was once a month. I used Durablend until recently, then switched to Mobil 1 around...

Re: 2002 SL2 anti-lock brake problem

I see JoeH's problem was on the left. I wonder how long before I have to replace the left side CV joint on my car. Just having done the right side, the left side probably isn't far behind. JoeH...

Re: 2002 SL2 anti-lock brake problem

It is not a DIY job unless you know a bit about repairing drivelines. If this is the problem, you have a couple choices on how to fix it, like Saturnhacker said.

The cheapest way is the rebuilt...

Re: Saturn Dealership's Answer

If the car is on a downhill slide maybe you should just pull the ABS fuse and forget about it. Your brakes will operate just like a car that never had ABS. That is what I would do on a car that is...

Re: 2002 SL2 anti-lock brake problem

When you say they activate on dry pavement I assume you also mean under light braking conditions. I just had a similiar problem with my 01 SC2. The sensor ring on the right CV joint split and...

Re: Any way to disable Daytime Running Lights?

I disabled my DRLs by cutting the ground wire from the DRL relay to the BCM. The BCM then can't ground the relay to turn on the DRLs and the highbeams work normally. I can't remember the wire color...

Re: 97 SL2 Plugs and oil filter fit my Craftsman mower

I used a Saturn oil filter on my Mom's tractor before but I never knew the plugs would cross. I have a Kohler 22 HP motor in my tractor and I need to do the plugs on it. Thanks for the info. It...
