Re: 2000 sl2 dohc intake manifold

2000-2002 S Series - SL2, SC2 and SW2. The SL2 does have the DOHC engine. The 2 designation refers to dual cam and DOHC refers to Dual Overhead Cam.

If the crack relates to the coolant outlet...

Re: MEvotech LCA NFG -- STAY AWAY!!

Originally installed May 2018 and you've got a good memory; I replaced the front left LCA under warranty in early June 2019 due to a worn ball joint. Actually I warrantied both of them even though...

Re: MEvotech LCA NFG -- STAY AWAY!!

You have to install the grease zerks yourself and I can't see voiding the warranty based on installing 90 degree grease zerks. It doesn't change the operation and performance one bit. Just the path...

Re: Automatic to manual in a 95 DOHC

If you travel highways in hilly area's it's likely that you will downshift for more power to maintain speed. This is where the upper clutch position switch comes into play for the most part. It's...

Re: MEvotech LCA NFG -- STAY AWAY!!

Was that the Mevotech Supreme or the economy grade?

I'm running the Supreme and haven't had any issues.

Re: Automatic to manual in a 95 DOHC

The upper clutch position switch I mentioned is only a GEN1 thing as from 96+ they utilized programming in the ECU to determine when the clutch engagement was initiated. You'll need to source one of...

Re: What is a good phone mount for sc2

CD slot based holders work well enough however you can no longer see your radio controls. This is not as big a deal on newer cars where you have controls on the steering wheel; not so much in the...

Re: Automatic to manual in a 95 DOHC

I don't believe there is a way to trick your current ECU outside of having it reprogrammed. Using your current ECU would work however you would have a CEL as stated due to transmission codes. It's...

Re: What is a good phone mount for sc2

This is the mount I used in my 01 SL1. The suction cup has a sticky gel substance on the bottom which helps with adhesion to to the dash.

When the SL1 was my DD I had the magnetic head option but...

Re: new tire recommendations?

+2 General Altimax RT43. I've ran them for a couple years now and I'm pretty happy with the performance and quietness.

Re: 2nd gen steering wheel swap, for a 3rd gen wheel?

No, the major difference is that they are splined differently. I suppose you could look at changing out the steering column and figure out the wiring but that's a lot of effort to go through.

If...

Re: 365,000 plus just died

1) It was an engine whine, at first thought it sounded like a gear low on oil, (I know that was not the issue but I am describing the sound) . No comment
2) The injectors have never been replaced....

Re: Fuel Filters

The recommended filter for a GEN3 like yours is a Wix 33731. If I recall the Napa filter is the same and has the Wix part number within its part number.

Nah, he's from Ontario. I'm slowly unloading my parts bins into his 98 Sedan one shipment at a time. Canada Post is winning; making more money than me.

Re: 365,000 plus just died

Multiple fuel line ruptures, running too rich....perhaps your fuel line pressure is too high. Did you replace the fuel pump at some point and if so what brand did you put in? Some brands are not so...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I put Mevotech Supreme's on my 99 SL2 as well. The one think that bugged me is you had to take the wheels off to grease them. There's no room to get the grease gun fitting in there. I changed the...

You can pull up production numbers on Compnine.com of any GM car based on RPO codes. If anyone has a subscription they can pull this info.

Re: 1.9L SOHC compression/ pressure from blow-by

Good compression should be in the 175-205 range for an SOHC S Series and all should be within 10 of each other. Your engine appears to be worn and its probable that all the rings or valves are...
