Re: AC Compressor Help

I am not near my Astra now. Is there a way you can fasten that wire so that vibrations over time do not work it out? Maybe some plastic zip ties would make your fix more permanant?

Re: 2008-2009 OEM NOS Headlamps LH RH

That is a steal ! !

Well worth the price if you don't like refinishing your old ratty headlights every six months. And are sick of dimming older headlights. . .

Re: EVAP Purge Valve Replacement

Hi Cindy,

I replaced this a few months ago so search my posts. Off the top of my head some of the instructions follow. They may be wrong or missing some steps lol.

The valve is very easy to...

Re: Power steering, abs light on, air bag light on...

Haven't seen all those issues posted together.

Maybe start with reading codes?

The starters are not huge problem areas for these cars but you will see a few being replaced as they age. . .

Re: AC Compressor Help

fdryer makes a good point here about this potentially being a ground. If a "power" wire just fell out on a bump, I would expect a momentary short to ground on the metal housing which would trip a...

Re: Vauxhall grill?

Re: Corrosion on coil pack and spark plug terminals

Sorry to hear you did not get that code sorted.

Maybe it is worth dropping by a Chevy dealer or good local guy for review of the code with potential solutions...

Re: 2008-2009 OEM NOS Headlamps LH RH

Note: British headlights are different so we can not import/export headlights to/from Right-Hand Drive (RHD) countries.

Some (not all) aftermarket Astra headlights have a manual switch built in...

Re: Corrosion on coil pack and spark plug terminals

I noticed some dirt does make its way into the head where the spark plugs sit.

I put a generous amount of dielectric grease inside the coilpack at the 4 points where it mates with the 4 spark...

Re: 2008-2009 OEM NOS Headlamps LH RH

There is a running Astra near me selling for $800 so you might have a struggle selling just headlights for $575.

Good luck.

Re: Need help replacing alternator

You got that done quickly.

Are you sure it is the alternator making the noise?

I got some noise from belt tensioner and from not-so old belts. Also some from AC compressor.

Re: Need help replacing alternator

That alternator can be replaced DIY but removing that second wire is very tough. Getting the alternator in and out of the car is very tough.

The auto transmission alternators were updated with a...

Re: Astra horn problem

I saw those posts on the Euro boards.

My horn works fine after airbag change. Dealer messed up your horn and should fix it to previous status.

If you can't convince dealer to fix it, get...

Re: looking at a car for my daughter - 08 Astra XE

Even if the radiator has not yet failed, this needs a separate transmission cooler installed ASAP.

Re: looking at a car for my daughter - 08 Astra XE

Well, these are fun cars that are cheap to buy. Frankly, these are not easy cars to sell so $4,500 is not a fantastic price on a private party sale (even if the car checks out fine by the mechanic)....

Re: Uggh Leaking Washer Fluid

Good news- So removing the elbow from the pump, applying a bit of good silicone to the pump nipple, putting the elbow back on the pump and letting the silicone set overnight seems to have worked.

Re: Uggh Leaking Washer Fluid

Leak is very fast now.

There are two elbows coming off the water pump near the bottom of the tank. They are easy to access under the bumper without removing anything.

It looks like the...

Re: Uggh Leaking Washer Fluid

I've got a leak since winter so trying to figure where it comes from.

I saw blue around the tank so suspect it is a bad fitting by the pump. . .

Re: 2008 ASTRA H 1.8 chronic code P065E

I have a similar "empty" black electrical connector behind the oil filler cap and left of the brake fluid reservoir...

Re: Just got an Astra

Too bad that Opel factory was shuddered.

The Astra was a very popular European car. Part of the problem was that in the 1990s, VW stole all the engineering plans for the best selling Opel Corsa...

You need to clean the throttlebody and both sides of the butterfly valve. There are a...

Re: P065E code coming up again.

I still would spray the MAF with MAF cleaner. Then clean the throttle body. Make sure to use the correct cleaners, respectively!

The Astra is very sensitive to those being uber clean. Runs much...
