Re: Rear end fishtail curb smack

Keep in mind the damage that the transmission may have taken with the
wheel being pushed inward on the outside of the axle. That force could
have translated into the transmission!

I saw...

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

I should also turn around and say that there is plenty of helpful knowledge in here to be had. Much of it can come from someone who doesn't have an agenda to blow his own horn. I point out a man...

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

Gentlemen! I apologize!

LOL, my question of "Do I sound resentful?" was meant to be sarcastic and comedic; even a bit redundant based on the words leading up to it. It was a sarcastic...

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

I don't mean to step on toes, but I've noticed many people herein who seem to feel that it is ok to call people out as liars and imply that they don't know what they're talking about.

We all know...

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

If you want to check the accuracy of your speedometer, then use a GPS. I have a few Garmin brand GPS's and they all can display vehicle speed, calculated from the distance traveled as seen by the...

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

Well underthehood, what I came up against was a white 1st gen Taurus SHO. I know it was a stick because I saw the driver stirring the gear lever as we were sitting at the light, and only the SHO and...

Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

This post is likely to draw all kinds of jeers and cheers from many people in here, so if you're the judgmental type, you probably wont want to read it.

I live in the country outside of Columbus...

Re: Engine replaced. One electrical plug left unknown..

A red colored connector? I'm wondering if it's the power wire off the back of the alternator?

Was the wire included inside the existing harness or just tied to it. I'm wondering if someone has...

Unknown Electrical Gizmo; What is it?

What is the electrical "box" or control module that is in the recess of the rubber shield of the right front kick panel. I have a '94 SL2 HCM.

Hey Richpin? Ever tried to modify the Chime...

Re: Auto trans - suddenly no drive or reverse

What about fluid level, or a stopped up filter?

It could be a failed transmission selector switch. If the tranny switch stays in PARK even if you move the lever into gear, I'm pretty sure you're...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

Looks like a grubby connector was the issue.

I made extra effort on cleaning the connectors on the wires, and put it back together.

TA DA! No more problem.

I still think it might be a...

Re: Rear Disc conversion

I vote for disk brakes:

I have a '94 SL2 HCE with an original 54K miles on it. A month ago, I put the first set of rear disk brake pads on it EVER in 24 years. The rotors didn't need replaced...

Re: Head replacement, stay SOHC or swap

The pistons are different between the SOHC and DOHC lower short block. The SOHC has dished pistons that will have lower compression with a swapped DOHC head than the factory DOHC engines have...

Re: Brake Job- Rotors/Pads/Caliper Pins- All Good, but a Rant

I'm always amazed at how much the price varies from retailer to retailer. They all price match each other, and pretty much everything that they price match, they will include a lifetime warranty on....

Re: brake backing plates unobtanium

If the mounting bolt holes from the Cavalier backing plate match the Saturns and the wheel lug bolt spacing is the same so as to mount the drum, then that Cavalier assembly might be a nice upgrade...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

LOL, Not to be picky here, but I had it apart, cleaned, and back in the car testing for operation 2 hours before trottida posted his message!

After that, I went to visit my significant other...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

Hey? Remember a wrecking yard in northern Ohio called Crestline? Was supposed to be one of the biggest yards in the midwest.

There was also another big one just across the Indiana state line on...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

Seems I spoke a little too soon!

I took the car out this evening, and all was well until I got out of the car at Walmart.

When I closed the door as I got out, the dome light stayed on as...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

Also, on a sad note:

A local wrecking yard USED to have nearly 20 1st and 2nd gen Saturns. But today I went there to pick up a part, and they are ALL GONE! CRUSHED.

For me, spare parts used...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I appreciate it.

Just for information, the ignition key circuit isn't the only thing that causes the chime to make noise. So also do the headlights and...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

Well! I FOUND THE PROBLEM!

Turns out the electronic module was soaking wet, right at the area where the 3 plugs snap in. It was soaked with plain ole water. We have had a LOT of wet weather...

One thing I've noticed in this forum is that the actual questions that people ask rarely get answered.

Instead, the people here seem to tell you what to do "In Their Opinion", irrelevant of what...

Re: '94 SL2 Automatic Seatbelt problem

A new development: Now the interior chime goes off continuously once I open the door.

The lights aren't on, the key's aren't in the ignition.
