Re: Rear speaker tips?

Well, I got the deck out and got access to the rear speakers. the screws holding in the side trim were the piece I was missing before to being able to remove the deck.

Unfortunately I could not...

Re: Rear speaker tips?

Sage advice if I were still running the factory deck, but the last owner replaced it with Ye Generic Kenwood CD player, which is designed to run 4 ohm anyway.

Also, all 4 speakers, shipped, cost...

Rear speaker tips?

So I will need to tackle the job of replacing the toasted rear speakers in my '94 SC2 soon. The writeup I have in my Haynes manual is obviously for a sedan, because there are parts you "need" to...

Re: New Saturn Owner

If it's just the plastic skin of the door that's broken, and not anything internal to the door (lock mechanism, anti-intrusion beams, window), then you don't need to replace the whole door, just the...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Received two pair of 6.5" speakers to replace all speakers in the car.

I did the fronts today. They were easy-ish to do. The hardest parts were removing the POS plastic screws that held in the...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Been a while since I've posted here, so a brief catch-up:

New t-stat and upper/lower rad hoses a little over a week ago. I'm on my first full tank since then, so we'll see if/how much the fuel...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Well, this happened today right as I was pulling in to my parking spot at work... Nothing really extraordinary, except that it's low for the age.

(and yes, I know the temp is low. I just got the...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Ooh, bumpdraft... that's purdy! :)

Ordered a t-stat and upper and lower rad hoses from RockAuto. Sadly, I will have a mechanic put them in because I don't do coolant. Period. It's too much of...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Took it in to get detailed, courtesy of a cheap LivingSocial deal. It was a full detail minus the seat shampooing and buff/wax. Car looks pretty good now, though I'm starting to wish that I had...

Re: A new car as good as the S-series?

Wow, apparently different sanctioning bodies consider an autocross course to be a very different thing. Out here, our "straightaways" are maybe 1/4 the length of those, and our slaloms are much...

Re: preventing fuel theft

Alternatively, use a battle ferret. :P Or multiple battle ferrets.

(seriously, ever been bitten by a ferret that is NOT playing? They will lock like a bulldog)

Re: A new car as good as the S-series?

*goes and look*

Wow, great job, GM, proving me wrong. You're right, my SC does not have a triangle, and the "pump handle" on the fuel gauge icon is on the incorrect side for where the fuel fillup...

Re: A new car as good as the S-series?

You don't HAVE to remember anything. Every car built in the past oh, 25 years or so (Domestic, Foreign, doesn't matter) has either a triangle on the gas gauge pointing to which side the filler is...

Nice try on the "SC2" part, dude... but it's an SC1. Even if it's a twin cam swap (no indication of that), it's still legally an SC1.

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Finally got the old dead Ferd Contour hauled off, that was taking up my garage space.

Promply moved the SC2 into the void in the garage. It's going to be much happier there. Plus I won't have to...

Re: A new car as good as the S-series?

The position of the "plant digit" does not vary. It is the 11th digit of the VIN, across all manufacturers. This is a standard for formatting VINs, and is not deviated from.

That said, the...

Re: A new car as good as the S-series?

Though before immediately condemning the expense of the Cruze ECO vs. say, and S-series, let's bear the CPI and inflation in mind.

In '02, at the end of the S's run, the "13k" that the S-series...

Re: A new car as good as the S-series?

I actually happened to test drive one of these today (no, I didn't read the board yesterday and go out... I just got bored and did it on a whim). Was the 6-speed Eco model.

It is a very nicely...

Re: Found a wrecked 1996 sl2 on craigslist for parts.

If you've got some spare garage/shed space sounds like a good car to strip and have a bunch of spares on hand once you've taken what you need for your immediate repairs.
