Re: High Idle/Low Efficiency Codes

Check for a blown 10 amp BODY fuse. Examine the OBD II ports wiring. Pin-16 is power to the port while the other three wires are signals.

You can pay for this service or if you can borrow the tool from Autozone (if they have it), diy with instructions or google for procedures from youtube.

Re: Belt Tensioner? AGAIN?????

780 belt is too long. Replace it with the shorter 778 belt. Some suspect the belt stretched after replacing belt tensioners when it may be an aftermarket pulley with a smaller diameter.

Re: Saturn AC doesn't work

Your '01 compressor clutch coil is blown after supplying it with 12v. You can measure coil resistance, 3-4 ohms to be sure it's blown if a meter reading doesn't register a value.

The '99 leaking...

Re: Belt Tensioner? AGAIN?????

Press down on the drive belt. Does it deflect easily or not? Between 45-60 lbs of tension should not allow a drive belt to deflect with finger pressure. Assured of correct belt tension and all...

Re: Low mileage used Saturns

The original Saturn was never a profit maker and was accepted by GM. Saturn was just a way to attract new car buyers not wanting to pay higher prices for many cars and appealed to a market for low...

Re: 02 SL2: No AC

1- if you didn't have compressor engagement, a)did you check for a blown fuse, b)shorted diode, c)blown compressor clutch coil? Power begins (first), with 12v thru a fuse to one side of relay...

Re: 02 SL2: No AC

DonP1, did it occur to you that dye sprayed everywhere most likely came from refilling/topping off attempts? May I ask how you came to the conclusion compressors are faulty?

Lose refrigerant and...

Re: NEED To Pass CA Smog, Please Help!

So what do you mean when you stated "... 95 SL2 and it has a TON of failed emissions tests. In fact it has 18 failed and 6 pass"? I don't know about anyone else on these forums, but I'm still in the...

Re: NEED To Pass CA Smog, Please Help!

Unless error codes are posted, we're all in the dark. It's too easy to simply point and declare the engine and exhaust system as faulty............

Re: 02 SL2: No AC

DonP1, ok so you won't take advice and insist on doing it your way? So far, refrigerant and dye was wasted accomplishing nothing. Insisting on putting in refrigerant resulted in nothing.

There...

Re: need opinions on '94 A/C

As you become familiar with ac temperature/pressure charts when using gauges, you'll understand them better. The reference tp 45 mph is the cooling effects from forced airflow reducing compressed...

Re: Low mileage used Saturns

Back in the '80s when Saturn was being thought of to present "a forward-thinking company in design and practical applications [in] marketing.." was a great idea to attract foreign car buyers to a...

Re: need opinions on '94 A/C

Your system is operating at factory level and cannot be improved on. When not mentioning area of use and now stating ambient temperatures are between 88F-101F, you're at maximum operating conditions....

Re: 02 SL2: No AC

Re: 02 SL2: No AC

Hiram_32, five years without ac use and 156k miles means one of two things; ac leaked out and dye marked where leaks occurred or they faded after a few years. You have two choices to chase leaks and...

Re: Low mileage used Saturns

L-series aside, the major problems with Saturn was (and is to this day on unsuspecting S-series owners) the infamous original two wire coolant sensor that was corrected until much later in a service...

Re: cannot remove the brake drum

Good luck with the tool and guessing which way to move the star wheel. You'll need patience to guess where to position it then move the star wheel in the correct direction (expanding or retracting...

Re: 1999 SL2 Crankcase valve (?)

Your are correct. Your picture shows the layout. My unfamiliarity with parts of the S-series is reminded with clear images. If I'm not mistaken, the edited image below should help.

Re: Low and spongy brake pedal

Google brake master cylinder test. When a brake system is fully bled of air, pressing the brake pedal (engine off) should result in a firm pedal. Hydraulics relies on building instant oil pressure to...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

There's always a label. It's most likely hidden from view. From drawings, labeling is probably on the side next to the engine requiring compressor removal to find it. Hopefully the Jensen parts are...

Pull off the hose and examine the part on the cam cam cover. Does it resemble the pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) valve below? A rubber grommet may be used to hold the pcv valve to the cam...
