Re: Manual mirrors to factory power mirrors

If you take the mirror out and lube up the cable mechanism, it will work a lot better. Take out any bee nests you find as they tend to jam the mirror as well.

Re: Electric trunk latch swap question

My 98 coupe has an electric trunk pop solenoid that doesn't work and a mechanical one that does.

Re: 93 SL2 Master cylinder port sizes.

I usually do furthest to nearest. Not sure it is super critical. I also bleed the MC. I block off the ports at the MC with my finger. This is done with the line disconnected That acts as a check...

Re: Manual mirrors to factory power mirrors

On a Pawnee, aerodynamics is not much of a consideration. The super cub would have a mirror inside to look back through the skylight.

Re: Spam on the tech thread

I used to moderate a Yahoo group. New users initially had their posts moderated. When they made a post that was legit, I would take off that restriction. When they posted spam I immediately banned...

Re: Manual mirrors to factory power mirrors

Slightly off topic, but I used to tow gliders with a Piper Pawnee ag plane. It had a mirror so you could keep an eye on the glider. I had picked up a mechanical remote control mirror and wanted to...

Re: Manual mirrors to factory power mirrors

I prefer the nipple. One less electrical doodad to fail. Would be hard to reach cross cockpit to get the passenger side though. I like the design!

Re: 97 SW2 Manual RPM's rev up while Hwy driving in 5th gear.

I'm about to do it. As always I'll document the process.

Re: 99 SL2 rebuild thread

Thanks Mark!
My new, stock LUK clutch came in the mail today. I'll be glad to be rid of the stage 2 clutch.

Spam on the tech thread

Boy we got slammed bad on the tech thread. Makes me mad. A few weeks ago I PM'ed Charlie and offered to moderate. If anybody knows him personally maybe make that offer. We have to get rid of the...

Re: Brake issues..

I'd go back and insist they replace the whole line, assuming you trust them to do the job. Or, make a YouTube video and warn others.

Re: 93 SL2 Master cylinder port sizes.

Awesome. I always thread brake lines in by hand. Easy to get them cross threaded if the lines are bent off a little bit. Keep tweaking the brake lines until you can run the nuts home by hand. Leave...

I bet they spliced. That is criminal for what they charged you. I would find a new garage.

Re: 93 SL2 Master cylinder port sizes.

Rock Auto has a closeout for $23.84 including reservoir. How do you tap it without damaging the seal in the MC or contaminating it with chips?

I vote new or junkyard MC. $17 at LKQ.

Re: Brake issues..

Definitely seems high. It is less than $50 worth of parts to replace all 4 hard lines. I've done it a few times. I am not surprised that the lines have rusted and failed.

I don't totally disagree with you fdryer. If you are paying someone to do the work, a new car will win out sooner or later. I'm personally less concerned with datlas and his wife than my own kids,...

Re: Annual Angst

Amen! I just bought $250 worth of parts for the '99 and will need to spend another $100 for alignment when we are done. Money well spent!
