Re: Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

Thanks guys, a few more comments.

This is my first third gen Saturn. Others have been 1999 or earlier.

Seems most noticeable in stop and go traffic, when accelerating.

I've only owned this...

Fluid running noise in cabin, weak heat

2001 SL2 143K miles auto.

I hear water running noises in the cabin from the heater core. The cabin warms but not as great as other Saturns I have had.

I think the heater core has to burp an air...

Brakes go to floor but stop, no missing fluid

My wife said she was pressing the brake when starting the 1999 SC2 auto (145K miles new rotors and pads / shoes drums all around late summer) and the pedal went to the floor. I confirmed it goes to...

Re: Odd rpm related whistle noise

Quick update. The noise comes and goes (odd). Currently it is not there.

No check engine lights, no performance issues.

I was thinking vacuum leak too, maybe around the PCV.

Re: Tire recommendations?

Ok, maybe I'm asking too much?

Today I was driving about 35mph, and decided to hit the brakes to make a right turn and slid on the wet pavement.

I guess I'm just not going to get grip with a...

Odd rpm related whistle noise

Just started getting this on my 1999 SL2 149K miles auto.

The noise has a resonance (maximum loudness) at 2200 rpms, and another just above 3K rpms.

Wondering if anyone else has had this before...

Tire recommendations?

My last purchase was the cheapest - $40 Douglas tires at Walmart. 195-60-15. What I don't like is if you slam on the brakes (even worse if the road is wet), the car slips and skids.

I'd like a...

Re: Help! lost a tranny oil pan 8mm bolt

Must have been fate. First place I go to is advanced auto. At the same time I go in someone else is looking for the same exact bolt. He bought a set and gave me his.

New valve body operation is a...

Help! lost a tranny oil pan 8mm bolt

Anywhere else on the car to pull/get one?

I'm going to try autozone and other places.

Re: Successfully lifted Saturn Sw1

Can you provide some details on what you did?

I have a 1999 SL2 auto that runs around a farm I'd be interested in doing this to.

Re: getting a duplicate key made for 2001 Saturn SC2

I bought both cars used, and both came with one key, no FOB. I gave Walmart the keys, and they made dups of the "worn" keys, and neither worked.

Re: A friend needs to sell her *very* used Saturn - Eugene Oregon

My 2001 I bought recently has a front fender like that (not as bad). So duct tape to hold it up. Good idea.

Re: Help buying another SL (by monday) :P

And you would be wrong there. Rear brakes are a fairly rare option as well as ABS. BTW, you can have ABS on drums.

My last two Saturns were bought from dealers this way. Trust me, a Saturn isn't...

Re: I broke my windshield!!! :( Need advice

In Ohio, insurance covers the repair and deductible. My 2015 Honda had it replaced by Safelite.

Not sure what would would be covered if you told your insurance you broke it yourself....

Damn! I need to cut out the rust and repair while the damage is still small (about the size of a 50 cent piece right now).

Re: How to tell if wheel bearing is bad?

Just to update this thread,

I went ahead and ordered two Timkin rear hubs (assuming it was a hub that was bad). Jacked up the rear driver side. Wheel didn't seem loose or move around much.

Re: How to tell if wheel bearing is bad?

Thanks. This is not a whine, engine spooling, or supercharger / turbo type of sound.

It is a low grumble and I feel a lot of the road surface through the car. Maybe worn out shocks or struts...

Re: How to tell if wheel bearing is bad?

Thanks guys.

I does seem like I'm driving on a gravel road even on a newly paved road. It seems to come from the rear of the car. It's an SC2 which seems to amplify the rear noise.

I guess I'm...

How to tell if wheel bearing is bad?

My 1999 SC2 seems to have a fair amount of noise in the cab. It's quiet up to 40mph, then gets noisy and less noisy at certain speeds.

I bought the car with 138K on it; it now has 144K and has...

Re: Anyone in central Ohio able to work on my SC1?

You might want to post a list of what is wrong with the car. Might be something that someone can recommend a solution.

Not This:

We have a 2018 Ram Crew Cab. It eats gas like crazy but my wifes commute is less than 10 miles.

For the fall we usually break out the Challengers for drives.

Re: My wife killed the SL2

That one was a nice color.

My 99 SL2 is less severe (a truck backed into it and danced on the hood). I was given $2200 a couple of years ago by their insurance, then bought it back for $150. I...

Re: Overheating 99 SL2

I'm thinking if your gauge is working the ECTS is good. Maybe wiring to the fan? Try hot wiring the fan to see if it runs. Fuses and relays?
