Re: Vibrations, noise

Everyone claims they're junk and to buy the OEM ones for $120+ instead. I've used more solid mounts than OEM and didn't have vibration issue's so I have to assume they're crazy.

I wouldn't buy one...

Out of that entire list literally the only thing that'll give him more than stock HP you dismiss :dizzy:

Re: Can't get spark plug wires ON!--too tight

I believe there are 3 styles of plug wires for the DOHC and 1 for the SOHC.

1 for '91-'95 aluminum cover (DOHC)
1 for '96-'98 warped plastic cover (DOHC)
1 for '99-'02 plastic cover (DOHC)...

Re: Blowout!!!

A 175/70R14 fits about perfect in place of the temp spare. Dropping to 65 from 70 would probably let it fit perfect; either one would last longer in-use then the temp spare.

I believe with the...

Re: Putting 1999 SC2 wheels on 2000 SL2

14's were steel only (14x5 I believe)
15's were steel or alloy on the SL2 and SW2
15's were alloy on SC2 and optional on the rest
Not sure how wide the 14's are but the 15's are all 6 inch's.

Re: Straight Up Bragging Rights

I can think of 19
3 '93s (2 SL2/ 1 SL1)
1 '94 (SL2)
3 '95's (SL2/SL1/SC1)
3 '96's (2 SC2 / 1 SL1)
8 '97's (2 SC2's, 2 SC1's, 2 SL2's, 1 SL1, 1 SW2)
1 '01 (SC2)

Started off thinking of only...

Re: Putting 1999 SC2 wheels on 2000 SL2

Any stock S-Series wheel will fit on any S-Series.

As long as both are the same wheel size there will only be minor speed/odo-meter discrepancy (under 2.3%). Likely won't notice between the 2...

Re: 1998 SL1 rear bumper skin compatibility with other models?

'91-'99 only the SC/SC1/SC2/SL2/SW2 got body color bumpers. '00-'02 they all got body color bumpers.
Same with the door handles, though I don't think 1st gen SC1's got body color door handles like...

Re: 1996 Sc1 front left fender compatibility

I've found that yards often don't list or keep track of a specific part on a car, they just keep track of what cars they have. I would think a fender would be "big" enough that they'd list it but...

Re: 1996 Sc1 front left fender compatibility

'96 Coupes are Gen 2 on the inside, Gen 1 on the outside (basically 2nd of '95 but with OBD II).
'96 Sedans & Wagons are Gen 2 inside & out.

Similar with '00 Coupes...they're Gen 3 on the inside...

Re: 1996 Sc1 front left fender compatibility

'96 SC1/SC2's are NOT 2nd gen body's! Not even CLOSE!

'93-96 SC1 for sure swap with no issue other than color choice.

Possibly '91-'95 SL/SL1/SL2/SW1/SW2/SWP as well but I'd bet a nickle the...

Re: UPDATE gen 2 and gen 3 brake lines

I don't understand. Every parts store I've gone into for brake line has had it. Brake lines are pretty generic...nothing to make them specific to a particular car.

Re: SC2 Side Window Gear Box Jammed

The only way to replace it is to take the outer skin off, there's a mostly solid metal panel between the inner panel and anything useful.

With the environment here I'd rather replace the whole...

Re: SL1 Automatic Issues

Unless it's fairly cold out, under 50f, the heater shouldn't bother even the SOHC that much. Kinda sounds like your thermostat is stuck open but the owners manual does point out it sucks to have a...

Re: SC2 Side Window Gear Box Jammed

Sounds like the window regulator broke. Not common but common enough the part isn't unobtanium priced.

ACI 81916, $56 on Amazon...

Re: S series timing

With OTC 6685 you can hold the cam gears in place and replace the camshafts without changing the timing. I remember people making custom versions of it for far less than the $200 I see it currently...

Re: 1998 Saturn SL2 won't start when parked on driveway incline

'97's were initially famous for bad check valves in the fuel pump but I had issue's with every single '93-'97 I owned. Even now, ~7 years since my last DD S-Series I still pause in 'run' to let the...

Re: Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subfra

If the top engine mount is in and it's just the transmission mount not lining up...that's a PITA to line up normally. Manhandle the engine/transmission around until it fits. You'll have to loosen the...

Re: Rear brake line

I'd just get a 25ft roll of 1/4" line, flare the ends and be done with it. Should be able to reuse the fittings from the factory line so all you'd need is brake fluid and the double-flare tool. Then...

Re: Would this be enough to keep the engine stable while replacing crossmember/subfra

A 2x4 isn't stable enough. Need the 3.75" vertically for strength but then it flops over at the slightest touch. I only had pine 2x4's, the 1.75" vertically left the board far too...

Re: Torque for Saturn aluminum rims?

Should have gotten new lug nuts too, steel rim lug nuts have a different beveled area from the aluminum wheels and nearly every steel rim lug nut I've looked at was 100% ruined anyway.

Re: What do you think of this stereo?

Only Sony makes a couple of receivers that'd be hard on the wiring, with a built in 40w x 4 RMS unit.

That unit's 60w x 4 rating is an optimistic max rating, not RMS. I'd be surprised if it...

Drill a hole in it and have a M18x1.5 O2 sensor bung welded onto it for $20 lol
