Re: Key Lock Cylinder...

Thanks all. I'll keep this in mind when I get back to the project. I'll be moving my RV and car to a new area near Quartzsite in a couple days and I didn't want to have to order something or break...

Key Lock Cylinder...

Saturn 2001 SL1 78,000 miles, AT

I've read all the other threads here on the forum and watched Richpin's video. Still have questions.

1) I can't seem to get the cylinder out. I set the key in...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

@Zeebins: Could you check your setup and see if it'll toggle the CC bit on a SOHC '01 SL1?

Thanks.

It's difficult to figure out if any of the products on the market will toggle the CC bit in my...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

All the suggestions about setting up Tech2Win...

Is there something about Tech2Win kit that would apply to my situation?

Would it program my SL1 PCM for Cruise Control?

Or is that...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

@OldNuc...Duly noted. All have security. Can't bypass.

@alordofchaos...You are correct sir, I could use a VM. I'll have to consider that route. But it probably will require some thinking. I'm not...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

OK, well, I'm convinced that it won't work. I'll go ahead and restart my search for one of the 'rare' SL1 PCM's that's AT & CC w/o security.

I think I'll go ahead and install the SL2 PCM I have...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

Very cool information. I might check that tomorrow and see if I can get it to start and stay running.

That doesn't seem too bad. Incorrect as in shift points too early or too late? So far off...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

Double RATS!

Wait, what? Recognized by what? What would a brainless car look for?

Are there more 'brains' in the car I'm unaware of that I should look at changing?

Well, suppose that's just...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

Installed the ECM this morning, made sure the ground wire was attached and the connectors were tight. Then checked the OBD II reader and it showed that the ECM didn't have any stored fault codes....

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

The only difference between the ECM's is that the one I picked up today at the junk yard came from a DOHC engine, and my engine is a SOHC.

They are both AT, both have the CC steering wheel and...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

Well, darnit. Found my old posting from January this year where the thread discussed this question already and it seems that the ECM from a DOHC won't work in my SOHC SL1. Sorry, forgot.

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

@Old Nuc:

Was at a junk yard today and found an ECM from a 2000 SL-SL2 L-4 DOHC 1.9 L. This car has all the power features, is an AT and has factory CC.

My question is: Will the ECM from the...

Re: Visit to the local Junk Yard...

Mine is a SOHC, AT, SL1. I've been down the rabbit hole trying to get info on what ECM I can use that might work and there's a bunch of threads out there.

What I gather though is that trying to...

OK, found instructions on how to post pictures:

Here's an outside shot of the junk yard with the phone number in case anyone needs a part. It's a rather sloppy setup but no doubt the guys there...

Visit to the local Junk Yard...

Went looking for an EGR valve and found out this junk yard has around 8 Saturn sedans and one coup. It's surprising how many of them are in pretty good shape. I couldn't get to them all but I did...

P0404 issues...

2001 Saturn SL1; AT; 71,000 miles.

Several months ago the SES light turned on. Checking the OBD II brought up the P0404 code. After checking here on Saturnalia, removed and cleaned the EGR. Used...

Re: Saturn SL1 Hesitates While Driving

Have you cleaned the throttle body lately? I know it can stick and that usually shows up at idle and when pressing the pedal to accelerate from a stop, but they can get pretty gummed up. Pretty easy...

Re: 2000 SL2, Weak current coming from blower motor connector

Sort of sounds like the classic symptoms of a loose or corroded terminal to me. I'd check all the connections. Especially look for loose connectors in the run and also look for a partially pinched...

Re: Back for more Cruise Control info...

I'm back! Suffered with the flu for a week (a gentle version probably because I had the shot last Sept.) so I wasn't doing much online reading. Thanks for everyone's input!

So, Old Nuc gave me...

Re: Back for more Cruise Control info...

Well, yeah, I kind of expected it wouldn't be an easy or a direct swap, but one can always hope. One other SaturnFans poster a few years ago didn't have any trouble at all adding CC to his SL1, I've...

Back for more Cruise Control info...

Months ago I installed a CC steering wheel and control module in my '01 SL1. The yellow 'On' LED came on but that was it. Took it to a GM tech that 'thought' he knew how to program my ECM. Gave up...

Re: hit 2 curbs, now its busted

Keep in mind that wheels bend in accidents like that and even from slower curb strikes. And can confound your search for a solution. Remove the wheels and roll them on a nice flat cement floor and...

Re: Coolant Temp

Looks about right to me. If the A/C is running, it'll be lower...about 1/4 above the gauge's 1/4 mark.

Re: Spaceman's BYOB-DOHC Rebuild Partythread

I was able to push it on my...
