Thank you underthehood. I forgot all about that particular part. I'm also due for a spark plug change as well so between the two hopefully it will solve the issue.

1996 SL2 with 140,000 miles. The car will start but I have to press the accelerator to get it going. Normally I just turn the key and it would fire right up. I have kept up with all of the routine...

Spark Plug Change 3.6L V6

Coming up on 100K and I know Iím due to change the spark plugs. Has anyone here done this themselves and is it a DIY job? Or should I take it to my local mechanic/dealership and let them tackle it?

Agree with SwimmerÖ.move onto a more reliable vehicle. Love the way ours drives, but itís been a constant source of trouble. Items replaced include:

Alternator
Battery Cables
Water Pump
Brake...

Seriously though. I looked underneath and nothing seems loose our out of place and I have not been able to replicate the problem. Very strange.

Like you I was experiencing transmission issues with our XR. I too became extremely frustrated with trying to read the transmission dipstick, could never accurately read the level....

Just to give you an update. Turned out the master cylinder was leaking into the brake booster causing the brakes to apply pressure. The car feels like new again, you can take your foot off of the gas...

billysvue - not the original fluid, we had it changed last weekend and everything seemed to be fine.

far2grumpy - it feels as if the brakes are being applied. Will try your putting into neutral...

Decided not to let GM tear into the transmission without any codes. Took the vehicle to my local mechanic who I trust and they did the 100K transmission service and the tranny feels as good as new...

Thanks gm7 and I'm starting to agree with you. Going to have the fluid changed and wait until in throws a code. No need giving GM a blank check.

Stopped by the dealership this morning, car drove perfectly on the way there, go figure. Last night it was hunting/slipping and shuddering for lack of a better word. Will be making an appt. with them...

Yes, its a 2008 XR with the 6 cylinder and it has 92,000 miles on it. Will be contacting GM today. Just seems strange that it doesn't do it all of the time. Wife drove it to work this morning and she...

Doesn't smell burnt, but it does look a little dark. No check engine light though which seems strange. Could it still be throwing a code?

Did all of the above.

Transmission started acting up the past few days. I can be giving it a lot of gas but the car refuses to accelerate. Have also lost reverse a 2 times.

Should I be able to clearly see the fluid level on the dipstick? Cant tell if the fluid on the dipstick is from removing/inserting.
