Re: New engine in my 2006 Ion

Got the car last night. Everything appeared ok. Until the engine light came on after about 50mi :ugh: So now I gotta take it back to have that checked out. Hopefully just a loose connection, o2...

Re: New engine in my 2006 Ion

It's a 2006. The 2006 warranty is 3yr/36kmi. I've got ~35,500 on it. The original warranty will expire in about 3 weeks of driving.

BTW, Saturns current new car (2007-2009) warranty is GM's...

Re: New engine in my 2006 Ion

Cars finished. It's got a brand new engine. 12mo/12kmi warranty.

It was the engine bottom end casting that had porosity.

Re: New engine in my 2006 Ion

He said a "new engine". So I'm assuming (hoping) a crate engine. I've been meaning to give a call back and get specifics.
I don't think they can put a used engine in as a warranty. Possibly a...

New engine in my 2006 Ion

I took my car to the dealer at 25k mi for an oil leak. The oil level was about 1qt low after 5k mi. They replaced the oil pan gasket. Well actually RTV'd it, not a gasket.

At 30k mi I noticed...

Re: Someone just rear-ended me while parked

Insurance company, insurance company, insurance company. Oh did I mention insurance company?

Get your vehicle to a body shop and have them inspect underneath. It's possible there could be damage...

Re: Top 10 Fastest Cars of 2007

Yes you must be missing something. The article is the top 10 fastest cars. Not the bottom 10. 4 of the top 10 are GM products. Exactly what Twenty4 said.

BTW, notice not a single Honda.

Re: Beat a Grand Am with a V 6 in it with my stock 2003 Ion

Some stupid guy in a Viper pulled up to me the other day at a red light. He reved that monster engine. But I don't think he realized I had a manual tranny. When the light turned green, he had his...

Re: Buy vs. Lease - need thoughts

For the first 1-3 years of any car, it's pretty much impossible to sell or trade it without taking a hit. Even leasing it, you're paying for the depreciation. It will also depend a lot on the...

Re: Buy vs. Lease - need thoughts

LOL, there is no such thing as buying a new car and not lose money.

It's more a matter of, how much use will you get out of it, and at what price. There is no way to judge what a car will be...

Sorry for your loss. Just be glad it wasn't worse. Had she been going 48mph or 58mph it would've been.

Weird that the one whose seat belt broke was the one who survived. Seatbelts are good,...

Re: Change Oil Soon -Reset Instructions

Nope. It would hold no merit. There is no proof that the oil was or was not changed.
You could simply reset the olm every time it came on, but never change the oil. The history would show that...

Re: On-Star, Did you keep it?

Onstar is way WAY overpriced. $200/yr for the basic! If you keep your car 6 yrs, that's $1200. No way.

I think Onstar is a great idea with good services. But should be reasonably priced. ...

I have an '06 and agree, the Ion's aren't that great in the snow. I think they're too light. But I guess that's the trade off for a car that gets good mpg.

Sliding and going off in a ditch...

Re: Who uses CHEAP rotors?

Not all that many things. The main compositions are C, Mn, P, S, Si

The alloys include mixtures of Ni, Cr, Mo, V, Cu

Most steels have the same ingredients. Just varying amounts of each....
