Re: Hard Shifting into Reverse

Same here, its normal to grind, nothing is broken.

I just throw it into 1st gear, then reverse and I have no problems.

It's kinda annoying at first, but now I do it without thinking.

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

Sorry guys, still haven't gotten around to doing it. The day before my week off from work, I got into a fight at work (I'm on security) and had my shoulder dislocated.

So, I've been in bed most...

Re: Bad coilpack, VERY expensive part

OEM parts for the Astra are extremely high in price, I replaced a valve in the emission system a while back - the dealer wanted about $90 for the part. The horrible part was that the cobalt has a...

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

Honestly, I've done nothing else with it recently, I've been tied up with other things, but I found my stock head unit, so hopefully I'll have some extra time here soon.
I'm taking a week off from...

Re: Astra using coolant

I just rolled over 38k and I've been getting the creck coolant message too.

Granted, we just hit the below-freezing part of winter, so that is a factor too.

Is there a special type of coolant...

Re: Yet another AUX in revisit

Just an FYI for you all, the OnStar input is mono, not stereo.

Also, it would require some modification, but you could splice the cd player connections inside the unit for an input.

The unit is...

Re: Parts needed for aftermarket stereo install

I think the connects 2 is worth it, $89 sounds about right.

You do retain the BC functions if you pull out the factory head unit, it does not need the connects 2 to keep working.

I think all...

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

My next plans for this is in fact to see if it can edit values. That would be great.

I also will check if it can marry/divorce, but I have to dig out my stock head unit.
I'm also certain this...

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

Alright, just so you all don't wet yourself getting through my post, it DOES work.
I loaded the program/drivers on my windows xp laptop and everything worked flawlessly on the first attempt.

NOW,...

Re: Parts needed for aftermarket stereo install

You can also check out the link in my signiture for my install. It doesn't have part numbers, but I do use parts to keep the steering wheel controls and such. It should at least have some info for...

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

It uses an FTDI converter chip. I opened the unit up and I have the exact chip number, but I'm on my phone at work right now (I'm on break), so I don't remember the exact chip number.

When I get...

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

Yes and no.
My windows 7 x64 laptop detects it, and I can install drivers for the device. However, the device also needs drivers for a small chip on board that is basically a usb to serial port...

Re: wrong oil filter

See, its stuff like this that makes me do my own work. I HATE taking my car to the dealership unless I 100% have to. I just don't understand how they can be so sloppy or make such an error. Its...

Re: Code P0496 - Evap system error

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/
I didn't browse for the part, I just put in the part number and hit search.

Well, after getting the valve replaced, I was able to verify that I do in fact also...

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

Well, it came in the mail today.

I've got a busy schedule for the rest of the day, so hopefully I can at least install the software and see if the device can hook up to my laptop.

Re: BC without Radio

As far as the BC is concerned, you do not need the factory radio for it to work. It is a stand-alone system, separate from the radio. They do interact with each other, but they are ultimately...

Re: boosting another vehicle

You need to be careful about connecting the negative terminal to the Astra's chassis. I do believe that there is a coating over most of the chassis (some type of paint) that prevents things from an...

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

It was shipped out a good 5-ish days ago, but coming from half way around the world with 'free' shipping it going to take a while.
I'm hoping I'll have it within a week.

I'm hoping to find a source for Opel Astra-h aftermarket parts. Hopefully stuff will be cheaper that way.
As a matter of fact, most parts that I've ordered from my dealership have come in labeled...

Re: Brake questions..

The US law says that a company has to supply replacement parts for a car for a minimum of 10 years after its release. Meaning GM has to supply parts until 2018.

But since GM is a douche bag, they...

Re: Looks like time for the Dealership for me.....

I just had my check engine light come on. The evap purge valve went bad. It didn't affect driving, the car would have just failed an emission test.

Hopefully its something simple like what I had.

Re: Anyone try one of these out yet?

Still waiting on it. The status on their website is "waiting on supplier" so this could be a while.
