Re: The Snow is comming, Don't let this be your Saturn

Re: Extorsion 101

My thoughts exactly!

I don't mind the occasional 100-500 dollar repair on my '99 SC2....
It only costs $42/month to insure, it sips gas, and it's totally paid off!
It's cheap transportation,...

Re: 42 MPG---Wow!

I deliver pizzas on weekends for extra money.
I see this (and other idiocy) all the time.

In southeast MN, I share the road with a fairly large amount of SUV's and F-150's. (How else would they...

Re: first the thermostat, today the radiator

I have a '99 SC2 with original water pump and radiator.
My car has around 99,400 miles on it.
Doesn't lose any coolant from what I can tell.
(the level on the coolant reservoir has always been...

Re: Saturns in the snow

I agree on the phone call.
I don't talk on my phone while driving for multiple reasons. (Driving a 5-speed being one of 'em)

I figure that:
1. the driver has a cell phone
2. A cop/sheriff...

Re: Saturns in the snow

I had a Schadenfreude moment while delivering pizzas a couple of weeks ago.
It was snowing pretty hard out, and there was already 4" of somewhat dense snow on the roads.

I was being tailgated by...

Re: Saturns in the snow

Living in Minnesota, I'm plenty familiar with snowy and icy winters. :D

My 1999 SC2 gets along great in snow. It does help a bit that I have a set of Hankook Winter Ipike tires on it.
A very...

Re: looking at getting the BOSS 750DI, decent, or garbage?

Heh. I always had a 'gut feeling' that BOSS radios were el-cheapo chinese type stuff, but...Really that crappy, huh?
Wow.

I've always been extremely happy with the pioneer headunits...

Re: looking at getting the BOSS 750DI, decent, or garbage?

I haven't ever seen a BOSS brand headunit in person. Or used one.
So I can't personally say how the build quality is, or the general "feel" of their products.
BOSS does seems to have good "bang for...

Re: 2001 SC2 sunroof

I just went this route too, with Jeff's kit.
He was great to work with, and quite quick on email replies.

He even included a few spare parts (torx bolts, sunroof guide clips, a new dome
light)...

Re: Need some Help with bulb IDs

Hey guys... I don't know if this will help, as it isn't terribly specific, but here's what the Sylvania bulb guide says:

Re: Wire running question

I like to imagine it was a couple of boneheads that thought that it was a "mad tight JDM engine tuner, yo!".

I take a small amount of joy in the fact that they went through the effort and risk and...

You don't happen to have a pic of your scangauge mount/installation, do you?
I'm trying to think of ways to mount my scangauge...

Re: Shaggin Wagon, 98SW raised floor (rear seat delete)

The tint pic looks nice...
Even though we're halfway through summer, that really makes me want to tint my white '99 SC2....

Re: how many miles do you have on your saturn?

1999 SC2 with 96,400-ish miles on it.

It's one of the "White Hot Coupe" editions, with a sunroof.
(Heh... Wikipedia says my car is one of 285 produced in 1999. Neat!)

Biggest repair so far: I...

Re: Shaggin Wagon, 98SW raised floor (rear seat delete)

I like the amplifier mount.
It's nice how the area behind the wheel wells becomes additional storage space.

Very well done.

Re: Larger capacity oil filter? Lost thread!

Hmmm... The concept of a larger oil filter interests me.
And since my brother owns an SRT-4, I can just ask him to pick up an extra filter or two when he goes shopping.

:D

Re: A salute to Richpin!!!!!

I also want to personally thank Richpin for his awesome saturn repair videos.

I'm going to be diving into replacing the serpentine belt & tensioner, as well as the upper motor mount.

I stopped by Autozone today to pick up the needed parts.
I got a Duralast motor mount, and...

Re: dashboard cluster bulbs on 98 sc2

Yup. You are correct.
That bulb will work in the map lights, the dome bulb, and the trunk bulb.
(At least its the same bulb on my SC2)

I'm just getting started on upgrading as many of...
