2008 Vue XE questions. 2.4 auto.
I am looking at one I may buy. 93,000 miles,2.4 eco tec, automatic transmission.
A few questions.
Does this model have any known problems I should be aware of? Is this transmission one that had problems? It seems to shift a little slow and hard from 1st to second but I am not accustomed to driving an automatic in a car so I may be just not accustomed to this.

The shifter indicator has a symbol like someone pushing on a brake near the park indicator, what is this? Also has just a drive "D" and then below that an "M". What does this "M" mean?

It is very clean and appears well taken care of but other than that I don't know much about it. Owner is having her father sell it for her and he does not seem to know much about it.

Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: 2008 Vue XE questions. 2.4 auto.
The 2.4 EcoTec IIRC is an updated version of the 2.2. The 2.4 should have an external accessory belt driven water pump and be far more reliable than the chain driven one on the 2.2. which seemed to have been the source of pretty common and disastrous engine failures.
Also the 2008+ is not the same vehicle. It is basically the European Opel Antara and IMO a somewhat "nicer" vehicle than the older Chevy based version.

2008 thru 2010 saturn vues were very good vehicles in my opinion. 2.4 a very good engine. the m is for manual shifting if you would ever care to do so. at the time saturn was a higher class gm vehicle so generally pretty nice and well equip ed.

Re: 2008 Vue XE questions. 2.4 auto.
Some of the early 2.4 08s had a heater core issue which was fixed with a recall/service bulletin when the vehicle was brought in for routine service. I had several friends with this model and it they had it done.

I had an 08 3.6 that I had for 10 years before the 6T70 tranny (which the 2.4 does NOT have) went. It cost more to fix than the vehicle was worth. Up until then, it was going fine. BTW, I have an 06 Vue (3.5L) that is still going strong but starting to show its age.

If I had a chance, I would still own another Saturn.
