Timing Cover bolts

For the timing cover, I've got 15 bolts - 13 long ones, 1 medium bolt, and 1 short bolt, in addition to the 4 oil pan bolts. I've concluded that the medium bolt probably goes in one of the two middle bolt holes, but I tried every hole on the timing cover and they all seem to be too deep for the short bolt.

It's been 8 years or so since I've done this, but IIRC, both bolts should be 30mm long?

The lower center bolt is 8mm head and upper center ( and all outer) bolts are 10mm head (again, IIRC)

Wonder if the cover has been off before, and a bolt fairy took one of the center bolts. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142219

Re: Timing Cover bolts

The cover has indeed been off before, but I have 15 bolt holes and 15 bolts for the holes. The previous owner must've lost a bolt and grabbed whatever he had. Thanks for the info, I'll run to the hardware store to pick up a bolt to match the medium length center bolt.

Re: Timing Cover bolts

The M6x1.0 bolt threaded in fine on the bottom of the two center bolt holes, but was like a hotdog down a hallway in the top center holes. None of the bolts that I pulled off of the timing cover would thread in, and there is no visible damage to the threads. Short of buying one of each metric threaded bolt from the hardware store, I'm not sure how I'll find the right size. I wish there was a keychain with studs of every thread size for situations like these.

Re: Timing Cover bolts

Quick little update for anyone in the future who happens to need the information.

The top of the two center bolts is M7x1.0, and the lower one is M6x1.0.
