It would be nice to have a place specialized in them. I get so-so service at the local Chevy dealer.

That's a wise move. Companies started out years ago making a few parts for their old cars {Steele Products} that weren't being made any longer. They've turned it into a multi million dollar business supplying the needs of old car owners.

Hemmings Classic Car has profiled some of these guys who started out just trying to help themselves and others keep their cars on the road and wound up with a lucrative business.

Specializing in one orphan make or several [Pontiac, Saab, Olds] could make you rich.

Doing what you love you never have to go to "work".

True, but considering that the French automaker Renault has a 45 percent stake in Nissan and it was the Nissan Sentra's platform-shared mechanical cousin (the Renault Samsung SM3) that would be supplied to Penske, it was the Board of Directors at Renault that brought about Saturn's demise.

I would have liked to see Saturn team up with Peugeot even though the distinctly French design language of their vehicles would not have met well with North American consumer taste.

I have not owned a Saturn going on four years, but there are still Saturns in my household, so I remain.

Charlie and all,
I’ve been lurking at “SaturnFan.Com” for many, many years. Because of all of you I got the first VUE that rolled of the Saturn of Sterling lot 11 years ago (Kanga)! I knew what I wanted and what I didn’t want in my Vue. (I even knew the cup holder was going to be hard to reach!) Kanga was my second Saturn, Tigger was my first Saturn an SC-2 that I loved (but I had to have room in the car for a wheel chair for my Mom).
I’ve enjoyed reading all your postings and am usually amazed by how much you all know about fixing your cars! I have to take mine to a Chevy dealership that still has a few Saturn mechanics. I love that my Saturn is 11 years old, has 123,000+ miles on her and shows no signs of slowing down and of course has no dents! :) Some of the stories you share make me so glad I have a Saturn and that I am a member of “SaturnFans.Com”.

I turned 18, in 1998. My first car, was a 1989 Ford Escort hatchback with only 19,000 original miles on it. A dry rotted lower radiator hose ended its life. Back then, had I have known what I know now, I would have replaced it with a reasonably-priced Saturn SC.

Every car, I have owned, has been a used car with no payments. And every last one of them had oil leaks or burned oil. So, the typical Saturn S-Series issues were nothing I wouldn't have been used to.

But, in 2000, I worked for my family in the salvage yards. I remember tearing apart the Saturn SC and thinking to myself how I liked the style.

Maybe everything happens for a reason. Maybe I wasn't meant to own my Saturn until now. Either way, I regret not buying a Saturn sooner than I did.

The Saturn trademark and brand may be gone forever, but the ideas and designs live on. And those designs can be re-engineered, made better, and one day revive within the markets.

Hindsight is 20/20, and all of the things that caused a Saturn failure, can be done again.

Just takes the right people, and the right resources.

Even though saturn has been discontinued for 7 years now, there are saturns still being passed down to young drivers as their first car all the time. That's how I came across this website. I first got my 96 SC2 last year when I was 18 and without what i learned from saturnfans it wouldnt still be running today! So thanks for hosting this great site and I hope i can make my saturn last forever! :)
