Doors unlocking and locking on their own.

Today while sitting at a light my car doors started to unlock and lock by themselves and when I got home I couldn't get it to unlock by pushing the unlock button on the door,or doing it manually the lock button wouldn't move. After about five minutes sitting in my car the doors finally unlock again on its on, so what could be the issue.

The door lock actuator/switch could be it. This happened to the PO of my 1997 SW2. His mechanic took the switch out because the locks were locking themselves and ultimately killing his battery.

When I got the car I just went to the junkyard and got a new switch for like $2. If fixed the problem.

It's more likely the switch than the activator. Behind the bezel, the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons are all one piece, kind of a "rocker" that is held in the "neutral" position by a spring. When that spring fails, stuff like this happens. Could be either switch, but the driver's side gets more use so is the prime suspect.

+1 driver's side. That was the dud on mine.

Re: Doors unlocking and locking on their own.

I had this happen last year, the lock sounded like a automatic gun between lock and unlock. I took off the switch because I swear the battery would go dead the way it was going. I noticed that the little pin behind the switch was snapped. I was taking my car to get the oil changed the following day so I just took all the parts in with me and asked them what it would cost to replace it. If it was too much I had some glue and I was going to try putting it back myself. A whole new switch cost $11.95 and the installed it with no labor because I did all the work, they just had to plug it in and pop it in, nothing special about it.;)

Mine started doing this early this morning. I thought maybe some wires were touching but I will have to look into the switch. I pulled the fuse for now so it stopped going crazy.

I found this is what happened to mine. Where do I buy Saturn parts now that there are no dealers? lol

I think any Chevy dealer, if you want to stay local. There are a few good sites, too. Like... www.saturnparts.net?

Yeah I got it from them. About $22 shipped to me. I installed it last night and my problem is fixed.
