rl gas pedal vs non-rl

On a few websites i read that the irl has a different gas pedal placement. Can anyone verify if the rl gas pedal/arm assembly is the same as the non-rl?

thanks, Gord

I owned an auto Ion before my RL, but I'd imagine there'd be no difference. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The pedals - clutch, brake and gas - are positioned for easier heel and toe driving.

So there IS a difference. It's no wonder it's easier to take off from a stop on a hill.

Practice makes perfect. People think I have a slushbox when I'm conscious of how I shift.

THX: how do you shift so smoothly? I can only do it if I let out the clutch slowly, but I'm scared that is bad for my clutch.

Use makes master, dude. I've been driving this car for two to three hours every day for three years, with more on the weekends, not including drag racing, autocrossing, and everything else. Just keep an eye on where the revs are in every gear and you should be fine. If you shift under power it stays pretty smooth.

ok, so can i swap redline pedals with my non-redline pedals???

Re: rl gas pedal vs non-rl

Nope, the Redline throttle pedal is an electronic unit and the non Redline is cable controlled, assuming my catalog is correct. I don't have a car here to look at, or I would check to be sure, but I'm pretty sure the RL is drive by wire. I'll check with a tech and get back to you after lunch.

Re: rl gas pedal vs non-rl

my 06 is drive by wire too.

when did they start using the drive by wire anyways?

Re: rl gas pedal vs non-rl

Yup, drive-by-wire here. I thought 05's and up where switched to drive-by-wire too thought weren't they?

Oops, sorry about that, I didn't pay attention to what year yours is. To Kat, yes they are all drive by wire from '05 and up.

Re: rl gas pedal vs non-rl

Electronic throttle control. The '05 and up have it, the '04 and down don't. I'm not sure if the BCM would like a RL pedal in a non-RL car, but that's one of those things I just can't check.
