SC2 Paint Code

I want to replace my rusting out hood on my 2000 SC2. The painter tells me that the proper code for the original paint can be found in the glove box, but it appears that a previous owner may have removed it. Can some kind person let me know the correct code?

Re: SC2 Paint Code

The sticker you need is on the fibreboard cover over the spare tire. Just have to lift up the carpet.
What color is the car?

Re: SC2 Paint Code

My spare tire cover is thin plywood and I looked on both sides, but nary a code. I hope there are other possibilities that come to mind with this vast readership. Oh, the car is white.

Re: SC2 Paint Code

Should be code 40, WA9563.
Best to color match to the old hood, being 17 years old and all.

The original tire cover is fiber board, and has a rectangular sticker printed with your car's options at the lower left corner (nearest the driver side tail light)

It is likely your SC2 suffered from a trunk leak, which cause the fiberboard piece to become soggy, moldy, and collapse (plus rust out the spare tire/well). A previous owner probably fixed the leak and replaced the fiberboard piece with plywood.

If you still have water entering the pockets in front of the tail lights, under the carpet/cover:

not sure what a painter is charging, but the rust spot on my white SC2, I dealt with by buying a rust-free white hood off a junkyard car, think it was around $50. Just held on by 4 bolts total

Re: SC2 Paint Code

I had the Paint code for my 2001 SC2, Light Silver WA-L454G, and just wanted to get Dupli-Color spray paint for my spoiler at Pep Boys. I was surprised that the catalog only went back to 2004. I even checked out PlastiKote's website and had no luck. I guess they figured a car that old no one cares how it looks, just how it runs mechanically. I was lucky there was a Sherwin William Automotive Paint shop just minutes from where I live. It did however cost @ $36 to have them make a spray can for me.
