Evap Purge valve solenoid

The vacuum line to the Evap Purge valve solenoid on my 1995 SC-2 is broken and cracked in several places. I want to replace it w/ a flexible vac line but can't see where it goes and none of the service manuals I have give a clear view of it. It appear to be underneath the intake manifold and above the starter.

It looks like the only way to access it is from below by removing the starter. Any body have a photo or suggestions on how to do this? Also the car is running very rough, almost stalling etc. Would the problem w/ the vac line cause this? Thanks. :?:

Might be easier to access with the starter out, but taking that out is quite annoying by itself.

It's a vacuum line that's broken which creates a vacuum leak which makes the engine run funny/bad.

Should be able to reach it from the top once you take the intake piping out. Don't remember how it's attached, I believe some years it's got a locking mechanism while other years it just push's on/off.

I know this is not ideal but in a pinch I have repaired similar lines using heat shrink tubing for electrical.
