a weird 1 second stumble
My 02 has been acting weird and one by one ive fixed the little issues. First issue was a bad plug second was the fixed orfice pcv.
Now the issue I have , if I start the car and let it idle after a couple minutes itll haveba quick cough. The idle will just free fall but only for literally a second. Its quick enough by time you realized it happened its done.
Its done it twice while driving both times I started and left right away. Went to pull out shifted to second and as soon as I hit the gas it would stumble just like say instead of shifting to 2nd you shifted straight to 5th. Its very violent jerk but its only one single jerk then its done. It hasnt done it for a couple days. No cel. I dont even know where to start.

Re: a weird 1 second stumble
If the lights and accessories dim when the stumble occurs, I'd focus on the battery and its connections. If not, it is most likely something intermittent in the ignition system. Plugs, wires and a clean up of the ground points on the coils and ICM would be a good first step.

No light issues. Charging system is good as is all the stuff you mentioned. The icm was actually replaced but I did verify all that stuff is good.

Re: a weird 1 second stumble
The car hasnt done it lately until today. Today taking off engine cold, as I was driving it bucked very violently and then was fine..... any ideas?

Mine did that today too, very very cold and it was on the first 1->2 shift. For me it is always a bit rougher when extremely cold out until things warm up a little.

It was weird. It's like it had a sever misfire for 1 second. Very strange. I don't know what is wrong with it.

So it could be an o2 sensor? I just replaced it with a walker sensor it Seems to switch pretty quick from what I can tell. I have sprayed all vacuum lines with no change In anything .

Re: a weird 1 second stumble
Search for temporarily blocking off egr valve ports. Cleaning addresses only half the issue while blocking off ports addresses it completely.

Re: a weird 1 second stumble
I read something about using a soda can to block it off. But why? What's the reason behind it? If it fixes it what does it mean is the issue?
