What year did the IONs switch to steel fenders

What year did Saturn switch the Ion to steel fenders and doors? I remember thinking of trading my 2000 SL2 for an Ion but decided not to as they stopped making them with the polymer panels. I am thinking the 2007 where steel. Does anyone remember?

None.

You're thinking of the L-Series which had steel rear quarter panels (and polymer door skins & front fenders). The vertical body panels on all S-Series, Ion, and 2002-2007 Vue models are all polymer.
