Those small coolant hoses

As part of the head gasket repair, I also installed new timing set, water pump, and hoses.

After 22 years, I installed those 4 small hoses too. I had some trouble finding them. Ordered from Amazon for about $30 total- compare to big parts stores :)

Here is a photo, it might help others. They are all Gates hoses. A couple of them are too long but can be cut to fit.

I cut the factory collars off with a rt. angle cutter. Carefully, don't touch the aluminum pipe.

Eliminating problems down the road... :)

Thanks for your post. I've had the new hoses sitting in a box for a while but haven't gotten around to putting them on. I did work on the hose in back of the engine for a while and then left it on. It's not real easy to get to. My hoses still look pretty good but they are 23 years old...

It doesn't look like a trivial job. I take it you didn't have to take the aluminum pipe out.

Yes I took out the aluminum pipe. See my photo.
This is possible only if you removed the "front" motor mount and its firewall bracket :( which I did as part of the recent head gasket repair.

With the head off, and intake manifold out, it's an easy job. Otherwise, probably have to tilt the "power module" forward to get space.

Oh, I found the hoses on RockAuto. Under heater section. Not cooling.

When I replaced mine I put the worm drive clamps on these hoses. Every time the weather changed they'd start leaking. I did some junk yard searching and came up with the spring clamps and installed them. No more leaks.
