Short Throw/Short Shifter?

I'm looking to get a short throw, but there are so many threads on this. I dont want to search and search them to find the best one. So, which one is better for the ION without a lot of problems. I've heard so many complaints about some than another so I just wanna know which one is the best. Or, should I just cut the shifter down to avoid all the hassles of installation.
