"Oil life" message in message center

I have a '05 ion. The Oil life message came up and so I changed the oil, but the lights still on... I called Saturn and they said turn the key to on w/o the engine running and bring up the message then hold the button. Which I did, but its still there. I tried it many times and it says reset but it still shows up. I even tried it with the engine on and nothing.... Help!

sounds like a system error, didn't you just get your car fixed?

You need turn the key to ON, then press the button once to get "Oil Life" display to come up.

After it comes up, then you need to press (again) and hold it for around 8seconds, and it will reset.

press and hold right? I've done that and it says "reset" and goes back to mileage display, but if I push it again then it goes right back to "oil life." It doesn't pop up, when I start the car it has the mileage but if i push it once the "oil life" comes on.

Yes, I was just in an accident, and the car is fixed but this started before the accident.

if you change your oil ahead of time and the light hasnt come on you need to be able to go to oil life to reset it

Is it suppose to be on, just not popping up on me?

when you pres the button, it's supposed to pop up, but it's not supposed to come up as a warning if you've successfully reset it.

so it only needs changed if it comes on when the car starts?
