v8 ion ...hmm
well in case you guys have been keeping up...i have a good ion...with a no good cvt tranny...doing more research lately...getting tired of hitting brick walls or maybe spending a fortune on a possible fix...i do have a 350 four bolt main and a 700r4 just sitting there...a little reinforcement, new rear end, new floor and some old fashioned enginuity and i got the first v8 ion mad max style...ha at least that would be something worth seeing...might i add i hate computers in cars...someone save me from this crappy vti situation....i found used ones ranging from 800-3000 bones (new 5100) same crappy tranny, same ridiculious prices kinda like the dynaflow transmission they put in old buicks in the 50's...they nicknamed it the dynaflush, anyone come up with a better name for the VTi yet? like VDi ....for Vehicular Disease inside

I don't think there is the room anywhere in these cars to make them V8 powered, not in the engine compartment, not under the car for the drive shaft or rear end, nor is there enough fuel to really run one, also, your interior would have to be completely redone.

Re: v8 ion ...hmm
it was more of a joke...but im sure if i cut enough out....just a frustrating situation...allot of people saying no i cant switch to the aisin and allot saying i can....i dont know anything at all involving the compatability of trans computers....i know the drivers side axle shaft is shorter and they will have diffrent computers...but if i get the trans computer and the axle shaft everything i would think it would be an easy swap...if i had to i could change the ecm to the one from the same ion right...the engines from the same year would have same computerized seems like it would work to me...

Re: v8 ion ...hmm
yes, a lot of enginuity is what you need, lots of it....

Re: v8 ion ...hmm
all you should need is the TCM, the ECU would accept either, as the TCM is the only one that deals with the transmission directly, what is neded is for someone to find out if the 3/8 of an inch really makes a difference.
