Would you like to see this sold as a Saturn

Would you like to see the Opel Meriva micro mpv sold as a Saturn.

Its about 159 inches long. Would Saturn be a better brand with the Meriva?

The Meriva, probably not.
The Zafira though...now that would probably work here, given that it competes with the new Mazda 5 as well as the Chrysler PT Cruiser in Europe.
Neither one would be able to replace the Relay though.

I don't see myself buying such a vehicle, but I think it might be a good offering. I guess it depends on how vehicles like the Mazda 5 do in the U.S. market.

I still think GM should get rid of Saturn if they're going to ditch the polymer panels and every other unique aspect of the division. If it's just another GM division - an outlet for Opel cars in the U.S. it seems - might as well consolidate and just sell them as Chevys. GM doesn't need redundancy right now.

We already have the Chevrolet Aveo here - how many of those type of cars do we need?

NO! there are too many types of this car out there! Saturn would have a hard time moving these off the lot. Saturn is having a hard time with the current cars it has already. :usa:

At 159" from bumper to bumper, there is no way the Meriva would be a suitable Relay replacement. I would rather the Opel Zafira be imported if that were the case and at fifteen feet in length, even the Zafira would be playing in the shallow end of the minivan pool along with the Ford Edge/Mazda CX5.

The C/D subcompact car segment is going to be a crowded place in a year or so, especially when the Honda Fit and Nissan Versa come calling. Let the Chevy Aveo deal with them, as well as the Yaris and improved Accent.

Talk on another board was of an exchange program. First was going to be RHD GMT361's to Holden for a VE Commodore (Zeta). Then GM killed RHD GMT361.

The other day the exchange Idea popped up again. This Time Sky and an unnamed GMNA vehicle(Outlook?) To GMEurope For Zafira's and Meriva's. May have just been talk. I'm not an insider so I don't know.

I think Zafira priced right would sell here. But I don't see the point of Meriva.

No. Looks wimpy with those tiny little tires. Probably a good MPG car that Europeans love (can't blame em), but I doubt it would be a hit here.

Re: Would you like to see this sold as a Saturn

I'd like to see it. Who cares if there will be others of this type of car on the market? Why SHOULDN'T GM offer something different rather than playing catch up.And especially as a Saturn when none of the other divisions would offer anything like it? And since Saturn has no vehicle of this sort at all, any sales that would be made would be plus business. That's a bad thing? Chevrolet hasn't been hurt by moving all those Aveos [ allegedly the most popular car in it's segment].
It's certainly more clever than anything Saturn is offering currently.
