SES question
I have an '02 L200 with 66,000 miles. The SES light has never come on except when oil change was due. Yesterday it came on and is constanly on with only about 2400 miles since last oil change.
Is there a "scheduled" service at appx. 65,000 miles which might be the reason for this or is there likely some other cause which needs to be checked out?

The SES light means service engine soon - an engine icon. The oil change light would be an oil can with a large drip icon.

Which indicator are you seeing displayed?

Re: SES question
No "SYMBOL". On the '02 L200 it is a "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" message in yellow immediately above the fuel gauge. There are two others above the "SES": "SERVICE with a wrench symbol" and WASHER FLUID LOW".

When the oil is changed there is a Reset switch in the under hood fuse box that resets the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" message IF it came on because of the engine oil program. I also figured there may be some "programed" service items that would turn this SES on as there was in my '96 Ford Tauras.

If there are not any pre-programed items I will reset the oil change switch and see if that turns it off.

Re: SES question
hey, thanks for the diagram. My mind may be playing tricks on me, it could be the "change oil soon" warning (#18) is the one I have previosly seen. I have only had the L200 for a few months, a total of 7,000 miles and have changed the oil 2 or 3 times.
Again, I ask the question: are there any pre-programmed sevice items that will cause the "SES" to come on at 66,000+-??

Re: SES question
In one word, no. If there's a SES indicator, retrieve the error code from Autozone (free). Write down the code(s) for posting here or search for definitions.
