I was given a 2003 Saturn Vue V6 3.0 L
Sketchy history. What I gathered was that the throttle body was malfunctioning and preventing it from starting. After getting the vehicle home, I noticed that the accessory belt was broken along with several pulleys. I replaced those and the car will crank, but doesn't turn over. I've checked the fuel pressure at the test valve and the pressure is good. As far as I can tell, the security system is not armed. In addition, I noticed that there was a manifold backfire. There is one code: cam sensor. But because the car hasn't run for 2 years, I don't know if that's current.
The questions that I have are:
• would the throttle body actually prevent the car from starting?
• is it safe to assume that if there is a backfire, that there is spark?
• could it be bad coil packs, or something else that I'm not aware of?
Thank you for any help.
