Just bought a '95 SL1 last night for $250... I came into it knowing the clutch was bad, it needed a serpentine belt, and the intake manifold gasket is starting to go. Drove it home last night, hopped in this morning- NADA. Replaced the battery with an Interstate MT-75 an still nothin'- just lights up and hums. No clicking, no turnover. Irritating.
I get belts and batteries cheap and they're cake to replace, I'm not too worried about the clutch- it's a $900 job, but it is what it is.
The dude I bought it from said he replaced the spark plugs yesterday- I'm wondering if he f'd that up or if I'm looking at replacing the starter...

Thoughts? I'm new to older models. Never driven anything older than '08.

Hit the starter hard with a hammer and you might get it to crank. If it does, drive to AutoZone and get a starter, cuz you'll need one soon.

You might also want to try to put the trans in neutral and try starting it. Could be the safety switch, too. I've had it happen on my '99 SW1.

I really wouldn't go to AutoZone Because I bought electrical parts for another Auto and found them to be defective and they would not return my money!! I then went to a NAPA Auto parts store to purchase the parts that worked! Sorry Auto Zone but you sell defective parts!
