When I rev the engine up to 3.5K-4K RPMs, it dies out and the car runs fine as if nothing happened. I have no idea what the problem is, its been happening for quite some time now, and just sort of started one day. I have gotten a new belt, and the noise continues. I have heard that this problem could be caused by a loose belt, but the belt itself does not seem all that loose, and I am afraid to tighten it anymore as I dont have a torque wrench. I dont know if this helps at all, but when I turn the steering wheel all the way to any one direction, left or right, the squeal multiplies itself in volume and sheer horrid noise while the wheel is in that position. Please help.

I know this has been beaten to death in numerous threads, but what's everyones opinion on Pennzoil? I'm trying to decide if I want to use the regular Pennzoil or the High Mileage Pennzoil. I've been using the high mileage to top off for a month or so only to see if it would help my oil usage and was considering trying it for an oil change or two. Also trying to decide wether I want to stick with a Fram filter (Almost always used these before) or try a Purolator filter. What's everyones thoughts/opinions/experiences on the two oils and the filters I'm considering? I'm also open to other brands as well if anyones had any miracles with them :D. I've already read the oil additive thread and the oil analysis thread. If possible I'd like the filters to be made in U.S.A (Which both the Fram and Purolator filters I'm considering are.) :usa:

Thanks for your time.

I recently changed my input/output shaft nut with help from everyone here (97 SL2 137K). I had changed my transmission mount not long ago, and I decided to use that experience to try and avoid removing the steering knuckle or entire strut.

Well it worked out great for me, and I wanted to share my photos with you guys. I followed all the procedures and ordered the parts as discussed in other threads in detail. I purchased everything, including the plastic retainer and modified socket, from the guy here who has the ebay store.

I lowered the cradle, both front and rear bolts as far as they would go and still have plenty of thread in the frame and removed the brake caliper, brake pad frame, and rotor. Then I turned the wheel all the way to the left to rotate the hub out of the way.

I didn't want to mess with the steering knuckle, so I figured I would manipulate the entire engine/trans like I did to get the trans mount replaced. So, I removed the breather, air filter box, and transmission dogbone. I supported the trans with my floor jack and 2X4 block, just enough to take the weight off, then I removed the 2 trans mount bolts. I pushed the transmission forward and had plenty of room to get the end cover off the trans. I wound up wedging it forward with blocks of wood so I had 2 hands to maneuver the end cover and tubes.

I also organized the bolts as they came out of the cover because of their different lengths. I stuck them through a piece of cardboard and labeled them clockwise from the very front.

The bolt holding the metal brake line bracket must be removed, and then just flip the line around the cover as you slide it out/in. It is no problem.

I used aluminum foil to cover the exposed end of the transmission while cleaning the gasket remnants off the housing. I made sure to work the foil into the voids as far as possible. It kept out a lot of the junk, but I had to be careful when I removed it and still had to clean up some.

Another thought, I wish I had tried this procedure for dropping/moving the transmission to do the valve body as well. I think you could leave the master cylinder alone (those of us with ABS), or you could do both and have a lot more clearance to torque the top cover bolts. That master cylinder was a big PITA for me. Maybe just dropping the cradle would be enough.

I hope I don't have to work on the Saturn any more for a while. I have plenty of other s#^* that needs doing.

Thanks again to everyone here for their help. If it wasn't for you all, I would have had a car payment a long time ago!

I didn't have a remote at this time to test with a remote.
It did not really bother me cuz I just used a key to unlock anyways and locking was fine.
So now fast forward 4 weeks. I've done NOTHING to the car and all of a sudden the door lock/unlock button started to work, so I though all good.

What I find out is after locking the car it will unlock itself at random intervals from a few minutes to a few hours and it will stay unlocked.

Where do you think I can start digging? Does it sound like BCM or Switch issue?

The salvage yard a few miles from me is having a "50% off everything" this Memorial Day weekend, so I'm planning to go and see what I can get for my '92 SC. Hopefully I'll find some good parts, especially those that are better OEM (rather than aftermarket) and/or are not made anymore to have as spare parts.

This thread is to find out what my options would be. I've read the swap guides, but some things are not very clear (to me), or just not there. So I'll be very grateful for your help here.

To start:
Is the coolant reservoir tank the same on all years/models? Or only specific years/models will fit my car?
How about the power window motor? (I also need to search how to remove it).

I'll add more questions here later.
Thanks in advance! :)

Hi, I am a new member here with the above car. I love my Vue, we had her since 2011. No major issues so till now. This past Monday it basically stopped on me uphill. It would go a little bit after a couple min break, then it would stop again. It had to be towed to my dealership, where they said the transmission failed (only 46K miles!!!) and it needed to be re-built. I got it towed to another transmission shop for a second opinion, because we are talking about 4-6K in repairs. My powertrain ran out last Sept. of course :(
Ppl are talking about a torque converter recall but I cannot find it. GM has no open recalls on my VIN.
The transmission plc tried to get GM on board and asked them to help us pay for it, but they said no.
Anybody with the same issue and out of warranty? I have seen hundreds of complaint online about this transmission but it looks like we are on our own. Or are we??

Thanks!

This may be impossible to get help with online and might seem silly...but I'm losing my mind because I keep finding dead bugs in my car. I use an nterior detailer to clean the dash and other surfaces and vacuum the car about twice a month. I do not wash the outside ever though, spraying the undercarriage is about as much effort as I'll put in for this car. I do not eat in the car and have not spilled anything. But near the rear windshield I have noticed a dead stink bug popping up about once a week. Today there was one, as well as one of those giant mosquito wasp things. I never leave the windows down and don't have the door open for more than a few seconds. I park on the street and am not under a tree.

What's the deal guys? Where can I look to fix this? I'm not a sissy but if a couple of stink bugs start flying around in my cabin while I'm driving down the highway, it might just be the end of me.

Ill be uploading this with new pictures frequently of the latest things ive done to my car and what im planning to do next and see what others think.

My parents purchased my car 2008 Xr 3 door brand new in 2008 for my step mom. 4 years later my step mother hadnt put even 18k on the car and they decided to sell it. With my old honda civic falling to bits i decided to purchase it from them last fall for 7k! An absolute steal as far as im concerned for a 4 year old car with 18k km and still has that new car smell :) my initial intentions were to drive it as is and enjoy a maitenance free car for a year or so and trade it in for something id really like. Well the more i drove it the more i fell in love with it. Through winter nothing could stop this thing and i went out everyday for hours driving in the snow for fun every snowy day, now having my nice summer tires back on and being able to test it out on a nice day i was amazed how well it really handles! After putting this car to the test i just couldnt even think of letting it go as soon as i planned :p and now im here... Hope you guys if any interested enjoy the show..
A week and a half later it started making noise and she asked me to look at it when I got home from work. There was no oil on the stick...put four quarts in and started it up, sure enough there was a nice rod knock! We got her an engine from another '97 with 123xxx on it. My son was helping and he disconnected the starter and alternator from underneath. When I went to hook everything back up I found that I have two wire eyes each with two wires crimped in that I don't know where they go. They come out of the loom at the starter and I thought that they went there on the solenoid and I had the purple wire hooked to the alt. Found out that the purple wire goes to solenoid but still have these two wires and my son didn't remember where they were hooked to. I took two pics of them. Much appreciate if somebody could tell me where they go.

2 new Brass sensors for the air intake and transmission. (ECTS was done long ago)... Might as well change them as I am doing a synthetic tranny fluid change this weekend....easy access to them.

1 New muffler bracket with insolater. OEM part

4 New door appliques for all 4 doors OEM parts
2 new door appliques (the small pieces gloss black in front of the mirrors) OEM parts

I have already replaced both mirrors...they are like 25 bucks a piece and look spectacular on the car...shiny gloss black
1 New oil drain bolt OEM
1 New tranny drain bolt OEM
FIlled Power steering fluid with synthetic ATF and will repeat several times until all old fluid is removed.... For some reason, in Canada, I was able to get the old style Orange tranny filter! I bought 6 of them as its all they had left in stock!

Taking car in to get rust proofed again to preserve the perfect body/underbody....

I think I will try and look for another 99 or 94' Homecoming if I can find one!

More to come.......

Cheers!
