Talked the friendly reps at Saturn on Friday about still trying to get my 06 registered on the Saturn site - still a no go and they have no idea when the database will be back up. My info on the vehicle is in one of the databases. He told me they are still trying to get the various SAturn and GM databases to merge. But that is not the point of this post. We were talking about the new Saturns and he referred me to the Opel wb site (www.opel.com) to see what the new Astra will look like. Low and behold, on the site is the new Antara that looks extremely like the 08 Vue.

BTW, guess what the "new" Opel GT looks like? Yup, a Saturn Sky.

Just waiting for my new 08 Vue to come in.

Yep. Many Saturn and Opel models will be co-developed. Notice I didn't use the term rebadge. I guess it technically is a rebadge, but most people use that term in saying that an automaker is just trying to take shortcuts and save money by bringing redundant products into a market.

What GM is doing is designing a car from the beginning to be both a Saturn and an Opel. The VUE is as much an Antara as an Antara is a VUE.

I don't mind since you don't see Opels here. What I hate about rebadging is when you see nearly identical cars from different brands, and often on the same dealer's lot (if you have a combined Chevy/GMC/Pontiac/etc. dealer).

I wish they would offer it with the same amenities as what the Euro Antara offers...check out the extras one gets when they order the loaded version....A few more goodies than the NA version...why is that the case...or seems to be that Euro cars get more goodies....

Euros will gladly pay out the nose for small vehicles with large feature sets. When faced with a $30k price tag, most Americans would be in large, less fuel-efficient vehicles (why get an ION chock full of $15,000 worth of gear when one could be in a much nicer Lucerne?), while Euros would rather be in a small car, optioned out the wazoo.

Different feature sets for different markets.
