Well, from the looks of things, TAPshift is all thats going to be offered with standard automatics on all models. I've never tried out TAPshift myself, and not sure exactly how close it is to a true Manual Transmission. Seems to be a new Saturn thing, not offering a Manual transmission, same applies to the Aura, no manual, just TAPshift.

Doesn't surprise me. The take rate on manuals in a car like the VUE had to be horrid.

The Red Line has "Tap Shift" control, and the the XR has it available as an option.

Is tap-shift , like the shift-tronic option in my Mazda? :|

If so, I used it once in the 3 years I have owned my car, its a waste of money!

Yes it is, and yes it is...

Kinda like navgation system. When people buy a car with Nav, they ask us to program two locations in.....

If you don't know where that are by now, you wasted $3,000.

originally they had planned to offer a manual transmission.... but at the last ride and drive where I actually got to drive the 08 ;) They told us that the manual transmission has been canceled.

I have one in my current car, and I use it fairly often. Don't you go to new restaurants or concerts or anything like that? I use it for that kind of thing most. They also come in handy if your away from home and want to find the closest gas station or fast food.

I would never use one, total waste of money, there's this thing called a map.... that and Phoenix uses a grid system so addresses are real easy to find, just ask for nearest cross street and you can find yourself to almost any address.

I just recently took a business trip to an unfamiliar place (Boston), and I found myself around with no issue (just used Mapquest to get driving directions.) I always deny the offer of a GPS locator system at the Rental car places on my business trips...always.

Plus what's wrong with being explorative? :)
