We're not getting the whole enchilada with the new 2008 VUE...
The Daewoo Winstorm comes in 5 and 7 passenger versions. The back glass opens independent in the rear hatch. The key is also the key fob like Chrysler. There's a visual info display above the glove box. The list goes on...
IMO we should have everything available that a Daewoo has...

The flash graphics take some time to download, but the Winstorm (forgot the 'D') certainly comes loaded with many other goodies....like the auto side mirrors (they rotate when car is turned off so nobody clips them). With Nav unit the price was around 30k USD. Very graphically intense presentation....
The only downside (I wouldn't mind), was the 150hp 2.0L engine....It had Tiptronic...not sure if 08 VUE will have that....

It also has backup proximity alarms... Wonder why it has all the goodies, and not the larger power plants...

We will have a 7 passenger VUE soon, trust me on this one. They are already running around Detroit and I know one of the engineers working on it.:)

I just noticed that from the profile, that Daewoo looks a lot like the BMW X3, which I don't particularly care for because it's totally useless on road and off.
Many of those features are also available on the Ford Escape, such as the rear hatch glass. That is one feature I really REALLY wish the Vue had. That and auto lift gate. *sigh* My wish list could add about $5k to the price of the Vue, but would honestly put it in league with some of the best sport-compact SUVs out there like the Cayenne and X5, for 1/3 the price.

I suspect that the 7 passenger, can't imagine 8, is for asian culture of extended family living. In other countires, gas cost an arm and a leg, so that is why the engine sizes are small to be fuel eficient- plus in those countries the roads are narrow and hyper congested. Instead of HP, the focus on creature comforts.

Different markets. Not every market wants more than 250 horsepower in anything longer than 180".

Providing the rear suspension is the same, a company would have no problems making a rear disc conversion for the older VUE's. Just piece it together with OEM parts.

That is the one big difference between Canada and the US in car buying habits....we will tend to go for the more fuel economical car (i.e. less hp)....$2.50/ gal US vs. $4.00/gal CDN....
That's why my next long road trip will be in the US.....

With the L66 V6 engine a road trip can be just as economical as the L61 Ecotec.

Fuel is expensive and Koreans are gadget freaks. They have 100 meg internet connections!
The Chinese Buick LaCrosse has the 2.4L ECOTEC 4 in it.
