i have a 2003 vue, and the heated seats recently stopped working. i read some previous posts, and it sound like it should be a blown fuse, bacause neither the driver or passenger seats work. but i checked the fuses under the hood and in the inside panel, and they are both fine. any ideas of what else it could be? i dont think it is the heating element, since both seats stopped working at the same time, but i could be wrong.
thanks

If they both stopped working at the same time, I would go with the fuse being blown or a wire loose......I'd replace the fuse (IIRC inside panel for seats) with a new one, as a blown fuse is sometimes difficult to detect (looks ok, but isn't). Then, if that didn't work, pull the wire 'plug' that goes into seats, and check it for continuity (with switch off and on). Use a light tester....the odds of both going at the same time seem remote...JMHO:)

i tested both fuses and they were fine. i replaced them anyways, and still no heat. i recently had the car in the shop because it was making a griding noise when i turned right or left. they said i needed a new steering column. i didnt have them fix it, but could they have knocked something loose when they were looking at it? (the plugs under the seat are all connected securely) i also had a hitch installed. i dont think they could have damaged anything, because all the hitch wiring is in the back, but maybe?

If you have access to a volt meter, check the voltage at the 4 pin molex connector going to the seat:
orange to ground (ground is the black wire or any other ground): 12v all the time...if its not there check 20 amp heated seat fuse
pink to ground: 12v with ignition on and heated seat on
blue to ground: 12 volt with ignition on and heated seat on
If both are not 12v check 10 amp fuse
If you find 12 volts present on all three wires with the ignition on and the heated seat switch on then you most likely lost a heating element (lumbar and seat base are wired in series so if you loose one you loose heat to the entire seat.

I had the same problem in my `04 Vue and it was the computer module. I found out it controls alot of stuff including the other problem I had with the daylight running lights. Haven`t had any problems other than noise in my front strut mounts.
