OK, I changed the oil in my wife's VUE over the weekend and reset the oil switch in fuse box (just like always).

Yesterday, we decided to clean out the garare a little so instead of starting it to move it I turned on the ignition, placed it in NEUTRAL and rolled it backwards a few feet. Later in the day I started it upo and drove it forward a few feet back in its place.

This morning it wouldn't start. I did some preliminary search and seee that PASSLOCK or crank sensor position may be culprits? I don't see any security light on and I tried a second set of keys.

By the way, this happened this time last year

but I have no idea what I did to fix it - just opened shut locks and I think I disconnected battery so that's what I'm doing now.

I had also checked for OBD codes but apart from the ever resident P0128 (Thermostat) there was nothing so I cleared the thermostat one.

Any suggestions?

Update, reonnected the battery after about 45 minutes - nothing. So, I tried the old foot to the floor routine an lo and behold it came to life!!

So, did I somehow flood it when I only started it and drove it for a few feet/seconds yesterday? That's the only explanation I can come up with as it is similar to the scenario a year ago.

I've noticed that I have a hard start/rough idle sometimes. It's always after I just start the car in the morning, back it out of the garage and into the driveway and turn it off. Once I'm done with whatever project I was working on, I go to move it back in and it has trouble restarting.

I've started letting it idle for a minute or two before shutting it down the first time. Seems to help.

Yeah, I'd like to know the physics behind it. Both times I only started it for a few seconds. Now that I know how to clear it I'll tell the Mrs!!! She had to take my car this morning!

Yep. Standard condition on fuel-injected, computer-controlled cars. Next time you do it, just let the car idle for five minutes.
