Installed rear air deflector on VUE?

Has anyone installed a rear deflector on your VUE yet?

It's the last thing I need to get, and have not seen one at the dealer to see how it it is on. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Oh, and why is it when you do not need something, you see thousands of them, and then when you are looking for one, you could not find one to save your life. Had the hitch put on, and now I can't find a hitch cover!

Curious: Is the rear deflector a bolt-on type or clip-on type? With body color (I doubt!) or just smoke-black plastics like the front?

Anyone know better? ;)

It appears to be plastic, at least that is my impression from the book.
I was just wondering if it is a bolt on from the outside, or if it attaches some where on the inside of the gate.

It's smoke-black plastic.
I had the dealer install it, so I can't rate the ease of doing it yourself, but it's attached to two large brackets that you can't see once it's in place. The piece itself is attached to the brackets with four screws (two on each side) that are the same colour as the deflector.
It's well worth it. I drove around for almost a month before getting it, and I couldn't believe how dirty the back window got. It's much better now.

Another way to rip people's money by leaving out something effective and functional. :ugh:

I installed mine. Not too hard if you follow instructions and dry fit the whole set up first and mask off the areas where the brackets go. They just have stick on adhesive so no holes to drill.

Make sure you get the clip on the front of the bracket all the way on the leading edge of the lift gate before you press down the adhesive. I didn't on the first one and barely got it off to resituate it.

The hardest part is centering it on the back since there really are no square edges to reference from.

Exactly! We have had the thing a few weeks and can not believ how much dirt gets back there.
Maybe I'll have to roll up to the other dealer in town and see how that thing is on there.

Last time I checked, they were between 60 and 70 dollars. I am not completely sure.

I paid $68 and don't notice any wind noise or whistling. I put it on right away, so I can't compare how effective it is. I was just going by other's posts stating how much dust there was without one.

Actually the tape that holds it on it strong, it's the same stuff that holds on body moldings on most vehicles. It's a product made by 3M, and I certianly wouldn't worry about it coming off unless you don't clean the surface properly befpre installing it.

Personally I like the rear deflector, it adds a little bit of style to the VUE and it's functional as well, but it's not for everyone.

Yeah, I understand that the tape holds well. Found that out with the bumper pad or cover. I thought there would at least be a bolt or two. I hope it works well when I get around to getting it.
