:hmpf:
Checking off the honey do item, i.e. changing out the head light bulb on the 2004 Saturn Vue. When doing so, I dropped one of the "star" screws and it disappeared into the black hole. The Sylvania 9006 bulb seems to fit (just barely - is there a better one?), with the two screws. However, I would like to put the screw back. Does anyone know what it is called or from where I can get one?
Note, I'm a newbie to working on the Vue. I've been doing basic stuff on the Saab 9-3, but the 2004 is starting to need a little TLC.
Thanks a bunch for the feedback and insight.

Go test drive a used Vue. Park somewhere and pop the hood. Maybe thats not the best way to solve the problem though...

There is another post on here talking about replacing a headlight on an 05 Vue. I think the "star" or Torx screws are used for headlight alignment and not to change the bulb. It may be that if you take out the adjustment screws, the headlight will come out, but now the aiming is off. To remove the 05 headlight, you need to remove the corner amber light (one screw and one plastic fastener), remove two 10mm hex head screws(on the top of the headlight assembly) and release the catch on the bottom of the headlight assembly by reaching in from the side where the corner light was removed. I'm sure there are Saturn techs who can jump in and clear this up for us.

There are no Torx screws that need to be removed to change out the headlamp bulbs. You have either played with the adjustment screws or the screws around the bulb that hold the bracket in for the bulb. The bulbs twist and pull out. The screws and bracket do not need to be removed to get the bulb out.

This is how I changed my low beam head light buld in my 2004 Vue 3.5 L. I removed the turn signal housing, the two top screws above the low beam housing, poped the white clasp, and pulled out the low beam housing. Then I unscrewed the the three torx screws from the back of the low beam housing and pulled out the bulb. In the process I dropped one of the torx screws and it magically disappeared. The low beam bulb seems secure for the time being with two torx screws, but I would like to track down a replacement.
Are there any good sites out there to shop for such a screw?
I'm going to see if I can get a picture, as it seems it would really help.
Thanks again.
P.S. I double posted - here and in the "05 Vue Headlight Change" thread. Sorry for the confusion. I think that is bad forum etiquette - my bad.

There are differences between the years. I think yours must be different because I've never seen a headlight bulb socket need anything but a twist to get it out.
Somebody with a manual may be able to get you a screw size. Besides being Torx, it'll be Metric too. If you're near a dealer, it might be faster to get one from them or at least get them to give you the right size so you can go surfing to find one on-line.

Sorry, but I have to laff about this. I have an 04 and on the composite housing, it has an arrow showing which way to twist the bulb to remove or put back in. I never thought I'd see something like this happen. But I guess oh well. What I would do is take one out from the other light, hit up the hardware shop and match it as closly as possible. It might not be a torx screw, but it will keep the light sealed up tight and make sure no moisture gets in to ruin the housing.
